Where do you all plan to live? Off-campus, on-campus?

If you're dorming it up, what room type would you prefer? Single, double, triple?

Note: Transfers get their own dorms, not the same ones as freshman.

Where do transfers usually live? It’d be weird to live in the dorms if it was all freshman, though I know from personal experience that dorm living is the best way to meet new people.

Also, when do we need to apply? Like…right away? Or will we still be able to get good housing if we apply late May?

Did you guys submit your housing apps yet? I’m confused, is it like SD where signing up only means you get reservation priorities or does it mean you’re committed to it?

Transfers usually get the apartments. They’re not bad at all but it’s still quite a walk to campus. I suggest getting a bicycle.

I’ve glanced at the housing app but that’s it. I plan to live in a dorm for the real “college experience.” :). maybe a double/triple? I have no idea which residence hall I wanna live at yet.

fortunately…i dont need to move to a new place as i am now stuyding at smc and live nearby…very close to ucla
i would say…if u a going to live off - campus…just make sure you are not going to find some apartments just next to UCLA, the westwood area… the size of room does not worth the price you pay…REALLY
I would recommend you to find somewhere else along the Big Blue bus line no8…its much cheaper but still very convenient.

UCLA gaurantees housing for transfers, but you have to submit the application on time.

i plan on dorming the first year but i hate the idea of communal bathrooms -_-

EEww just remember to hover on the toilet…

Does it help to submit the housing app early? I’d prefer to wait to submit but I don’t want to get stuck somewhere either.:/

i want to be in a social dorm. do we have any options when it comes to this??

transfers live in their own building?? I thought you could go to any building with anyone.

this is for you guys’ general questions

assuming we get to live anywhere.

^Thank You that was really helpful…now just need my pending to turn into an acceptance.

I’ll be dorming, I guess. Are the plaza’s considered dorms? That’s where I want to go!

Yes, the plazas are the more expensive dorms. They have their own bathrooms and rooms are more spaced apart. Its less social but more comfortable

I’m trying to find an apartment near-ish to UCLA where I can have my own bedroom.

Only con is that the 2 bedroom places under $1600 are short bus ride away (less than 2 miles) from campus rather than walking distance like the ones near frat row.

EHHH. But I wanna be closer to campus.

I currently live with my boyfriend near downtown L.A., and we will be moving a little further west once our lease is up in August. I will be living off-campus with him.

I’m really not sure yet. I’d like to live in dorms, but I really don’t want bunk beds hahah.

I may live off campus in an apartment with some roommates. If anyone is looking for roommates, I’m here! I promise I am clean, studious, and I’m not creepy lol :)

You will NEVER find a 2 br under 1600 in Westwood. Never… Though you will be able to find a studio and/or 1 br! The place is expensive as hell.

@ouimarshmallow - Trust me. Living in downtown and commuting to LA is not worth the cheap(er) rent. I know downtown sounds like THE experience, but it’s not. Maybe you and your boyfriend should check Palms; a lot of grad students live in the area and ride the bus to school.
