So just to prove to all the hopefull WAMC (what are my chancers) out there that this is random, will people please post who got into a school and was rejected by another less presitgious selective school.
i.e.

Got into Caltech
waitlisted Harvey Mudd

or
got into MIT
rejected: cornell, cooper union

Well, Harvey Mudd is easier to get into than Caltech, but thats sort of like getting into Harvard and not getting into Dartmouth. They're both such good schools that anyone not getting into one would be understandable, and getting into all schools of that caliber would be ridiculous. Same with the second one (Cooper Union, from what I know, is incredibly hard to get into).

Something more along the lines of getting into Chapel Hill but not Wilmington or something would be more interesting :) The examples aren't exactly encouraging.

I think I know people that got into UVA but not James Madison University, but I might be mistaken.

well i was just doing some real example I know, and theoneo, I don't think you'll need to worry, RU is going to lose a lot of instate safety school applicants like me (despite double legacy).

Well some of this might depend on weather or not the school might of thought you were to overqualified, or if a certain school is considered a lower tier but yet has a great business program which might be impossible to get into.

best friend got into columbia (will attend), but rejected from LSU. (his GPA sucked, but had perfect test scores and the best EC's ever; LSU has strict in-state GPA guidelines)

Isn't Rutgers losing lots of money thanks to Corzine? i hate that guy.

Yes, it is. Consequences include letting go some of its faculty, reducing aid offerings (especially merit-based), and increased tuition. I absolutely hate Corzine. I wrote an email to him detailing why I hate him and why I'm considering leaving NJ for good after high school and why I have pledged to vote for his leading competitor in any election he ever enters in the future.

Oh and about Rutgers... I've heard horror stories of people with more than qualified stats not being accepted because RU didn't think they would enroll if they were admitted. I'm not sure if I believe those stories or not... it probably had to do with people getting cocky and not filling out entire applications or doing something stupid for the optional essay (which I've heard of people doing as well). Thanks to rolling admissions, though, I'll know in a couple months (hopefully)! :)
