Alright, I just got rejected from UCLA, and I was wondering what my chances at UNC are since Berkeley is also obviously out of the question for me now and UNC is the only other school I haven't heard from.

If you want an honest opinion - I don’t think your stats are quite high enough for OOS to UNC. You can check the stats on the OOS accepted thread from the EA decisions and I’m afraid you would not fall on the accepted side. Good luck and I hope I’m wrong!!

Your SAT scores are marginal, ECs are a bit weak. I still have not seen anything that defines how schools truly evaluate the CR section of the SAT or how much weight they put on it. Without CR your old SAT score is a 1340 which, while not bad, is certainly not a guarantee in a highly competitive admissions environment.

It may come down to your letters of recommendation and essays. I hope you really took the time to make them stand out.

Because UNC uses a more holistic approach it is difficult to predict when scores and ECs are borderline. Some may have been admitted with slightly lower SATs but their essays or Recs may have been the difference maker.

you have a high SAT score but a low weighted GPA. also you don’t take enough AP’s so sadly i don’t think your chances are too hot BUT i got in with a 2050 so you may have a shot (4 AP’s per year)
