you guys are scaring me

i read all these post of ppl talking about mit stanford columbia with 2200+

not sure if i want to see my result :p I am expecting something like 1900+

not one more.....................SAT is not a very important aspect in the admission process, atleast not as important as people make it seem, dats why colleges like MIT do not have a minimum score for the SAT. They just want you to do well in ur ec's and general academics, needless to say it usually adds up to a high SAT score (2200+)
keep in mind dat there are people who apply with a 2350 with stellar ec's, maybe dats where sat's are taken into consideration.

there's no minimum, but let's say the higher your score the better :)

what if my ecs are:

playing cricket
essay competitons
speech competitions
Commentator/host in various functions

thats all i can do in my country.

I would work on your SAT simply because the vast majority of people there are going to have a higher score than you. This immediately puts you at a disadvantage. If anything, you want them to be impressed by your sat and go from there. It's only part of the proccess but still, a 400 point difference can mean a lot in the "first glance" of transcripts. You want them on your side from the beginning.

thnaks stix, would it matter if i want to transfer to junior year(again not IVY) like to RPI or NYU? I am sure i'll get into the two colleges i applied. they are not soo competitive. 50-76% applied are offered.

the SATs won't be nearly as important in transfering.
by then you'll have two years of college courses, GPA, ECs and recs for them to look at. they'll be much more interested in how you've actually done in college than in how a test said you should do.
