You guys know this a lot better than I do.

Do I have any hope? I read the record applications and % filled through EA threads and my heart kinda sank. I know some of you follow this stuff on a year-to-year basis, and I would appreciate a little of your college admissions expertise!

White
competative private ohio school 4/240
4.0 UW all AP/honors (only 3 years of one foreign language, however)

----->Not a 4.0 anymore, actually. Got two B+'s in my seventh semester...downward trend :( in addition to my non-academic A- when I was a freshman

Didn't take AP test for most of my AP classes-scored 3 on the one I did take - didn't submit
33 ACT 1460/760/700/690 SAT
3 V sport-significant achievement in golf (all state three years, captain 2)
all normal/worthless EC's: NHS, student gov 4y, German club ect, significant leadership, student retreat ect
accomplished musician (awards/reqs): piano, cello, guitar
one rec should be good-the other I'm on the fence about
good essays

and a kid ranked right behind me got into Harvard EA - which was a little upsetting considering I have more EC etc - while I was looking at my pton ED def. I don't think two kids from my school have ever gotten into Harvard in the same year :(

Also, feel free to be honest with me (brutally if need be). School admissions aren't an end-of-the-world proposition, but if I have no chance I'd like to know.

come on - someone has to have an opinion

You probably won't get in.

I, unfortunately, agree. From the overview you have given us of yourself, it seems like you do not stand out at all. I am guessing that you were deferred (like the rest of us); this mere fact, as we know, puts us at a disadvantage.

You're a regular kid, and Harvard needs regular kids too in their quest to put together a well-rounded CLASS.

You have a shot, best of luck!

People can be a little harsh on this board sometimes in assessing admissions chances. The profile you've outlined should certainly put you in the running, but virtually everyone applying to Harvard (and other super-selective schools) faces pretty long odds. There are probably only a few hundred applicants a year for whom admission could be considered a good bet. So you're in there with thousands of other people who are well qualified and could be admitted but probably won't be. In any event, good luck.

He said he did get deferred ED from Princeton.

i think i am less qualified than u...=( anyways, je suis a junior...Best of luck! =)

thanks guys, I really appreciate it
