I've been lurking on a variety of the college forums as my nephew and godson are seniors in throes of the decision making process.
There are many posts asking to compare schools such as "I was accepted for major X to University A and College B, which should I pick" A valid request.
What drives me nuts is when posters come back. I don't have a problem with posting on University A's forum - "thanks for the info, I've decided on COllege B". It's the "we/I've decided on COllege B and here are the 50 reasons and 30 studies and 20 rankings why it is SO very much better than University A and you'll probably never get a job if you go to A instead of B, like me/my child."
Am I just easily aggravated?

Smile and nod, smile and nod.

People have won Nobel prizes in the field of Behavioral Economics (Aumann comes to mind) on how people make decisions. We wouldn’t be human (apparently) if we didn’t need constant reassurance of our ability to assess risk and optimize outcomes!

Agree with Consolation- time to smile even if you don’t have the energy to nod!!!

I agree— smile and nod. My D will be making her Grad school decision in the next 2 weeks and I wont be back to gives reasons why she decides on which one. Right now we know that all 5 are fantastic and not one thing about them makes one stand out over the others, they each have phenominal proffs to study under in their own right. So reality is that it will be the final $$$$$ that will make the difference. She is negotiating with each and will be pleased with any of them and we will be pleased with the cheapest LOL :)

How we chose our CC handles would be interesting.

I was angry about the whole process of applying to college. Angry about what I didn’t know but wished I did. Angry about fafsa questions. Angry about my EFC. Just angry which is how I came up with mad about x-you name it, I’m mad about it, hence madaboutx.

It felt good to get that off my chest.

Interesting, Madaboutx! i’d assumed that you were crazy about Texas!

Madaboutx, I theorized that it was an oblique reference to the Mad About You show, or in any case, a Crazy-About-X , with X sort of marking the spot or being a deliberate nod to a changing value. It’s a very flexible handle and I think you should continue to embrace it! :)
