You must post if you haven't started summer reading yet

I’ve actually read a lot over the summer. I’m pretty proud of how productive I’ve been lol.

Streetcar Named Desire

Farewell to Arms

Anyone read these before? How are they?

I think like 4 books and a lot of textbook chapters…maybe I’ll start tomorrow…or not

Book…what’s a book???

I haven’t touched a book all summer…and I don’t intend to for the rest of the summer. I wasn’t assigned anything (don’t take advanced English classes), so I don’t plan to over-exert myself by reading something on my own ;)

I’d rather be working on cars, hanging with friends, and working than reading books…

I have 5 books totaling about 1300 pages for a single class. Overkill much?

I have to read Sophie’s World for AP Euro…
I’m only on page 33…and half of summer has gone by…
So only like what, 470 more pages to go? Yay
Such a boring book to me…everybody else is saying it’s such an interesting book
BS!
Or maybe it’s because i’m not at the good part yet?
but, I have read The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Amazing books…don’t let the cheesy titles get to you…

^I so disliked Never Let Me Go that it almost puts me off of reading Remains of the Day. I think I hit the wrong first book with authors sometimes.

I have to read most of Dante’s Inferno still and all of The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

I sort of have to read Girl, Interrupted but I’m self studying that class, so I’m not sure, and maybe Petit Nicholas in case I end up having to take AP French at my school instead of college French.

But I’ve read a lot for fun:
Hunting and Gathering by Anna Gavalada
Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami
South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami
Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin
Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky (for school, but also for fun)
The Awakening by Kate Chopin

And one more book I think.

I have not started my summer reading, because I have none.

I have none;)

I haven’t — no plans

I have an excuse - I never got the mail for my summer reading b/c I “moved” to a new place

On the other hand, I have massive AP Biology homework (so I am doing some form of reading)

:( I loved Never Let Me Go! haha

well some books i’ve read for fun so far are:
the remains of the day and never let me go, like i said
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
The Brief wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
A Confederacy of Dunces
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Gone With the Wind
Water For Elephants
A Complicated Kindness
The Book Thief
The Time Traveler’s Wife

Haha, paulinabear, trust me, Sophie’s World get supeeer awesome :] I loved it, I’m sure you will, too. It is an extremely long book, though.

P.S. I can’t wait to watch the Time Traveler’s Wife movie…

I know…it’s so long…:frowning:
Haha, hopefully it will get good  I really need to start reading it again

I can’t wait either! The book was so good.
But idk if the movie will be as great…but i’m sure it won’t be bad :D

my school gives out summer work for most honors/ap classes. I usually start the week we get out of school, read like 20 pages, then give up and do it the week before school starts. This year I’m at least trying not to procrastinate.

AP Lit:
read “Hocus Pocus” by Vonnegut and “Anna Karenina” by Tolstoy.
10 pg research paper, 3-5 page essay, and presentation. (those aren’t due right away though)

AP Stats:
read the first 3 chapters do like 40 problems identifying the 5 w’s or something.

honors French 5:
some crazy random packet that looks like its easy, but there aren’t any directions so who knows it’ll probably end up being unbelievably hard.

Not even started. We have tests on our books the first week of school, and if I read it now, I’d forget it all. The day before school begins is a good enough day for me to start. :)

I pity you fairy. ^^^ The Prince sucks.

I have, however, finished my math packet, 5 chapters of physics, and half of my bio work. I’m not such a slacker after all. :)

the prince
hot, flat, and crowded
fast food nation
guns, germs, and steel

Fun times…I also have to do some Physics problems which I can proudly say I am 1/3 of the way done with… lol :)

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (I’ve already decided not to read this one)
The Mayor of Casterbridge
The Death of a Salesman

Then two packets to read for history (a 20 page one, and a 60 page one)

Then we have to READ FOR PRECALC! (the first chapter and take notes)

Then we have to read and take notes on 13 CHAPTERS OF BIO!

There’s other stuff, but that my “summer reading.”

AP Macroeconomics:
The World is Flat… 600 pages of nothing I want to read about.

College English:
Siddhartha (done)
The Awakening (done)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Deliverance

AP Calc BC (why?):
100 question packet

1 more week. 3 APUSH chapters, questions, and study guides. I can’t contain my excitement! …in-between taking naps at my desk. Ugh.
