For the majority of the schools on your list, you need to raise your SAT score to at least above a 2200 (just do well on your CR and W sections). The majority of the Asian population applying to those schools have a 2300 or above. Or, just discard your SAT score and use your fantastic ACT score.
Also, try to do more ECs that’s outside of school.
Btw, what is your weighted GPA out of? 5? If so, then your WGPA is awesome.

Georgetown: mid-reach
UPenn: mid-reach
Northwestern: low reach
The Ivy League Schools: reach
UCLA: low-to-mid reach
UCSD: low reach
Berkley: low reach
BU: high match/low reach
UChicago: mid-reach
Duke: reach (its acceptance rate is similar to Ivies)
John Hopkins: mid-reach (I think 80% of its applicants are Asians)
NYU: match
Stanford: see Duke. Similar acceptance rate as Harvard.

^ So Hopkins is a high reach but Duke is not? Penn is a high reach but Chicago is not? Where are you getting this stuff from? A psychic?

In order of acceptance rates:

HYPS - High Reaches
Chicago, Dartmouth, Duke, Penn - Mid Reaches
Northwestern, Georgetown, Hopkins - Low-Mid Reaches
University of California schools and NYU - Matches
BU - Match

In general, your junior year GPA is not too hot. That will really hurt you.
Remember: ACT scores on practice tests are NOT representative of the real thing. You may get a 30 on the real thing or you may get a 36! From personal experience, practice test scores are higher than actual scores. I scored 36’s consistently on practice tests, but ended up with a 33.5 on the actual thing (so, rounds up to a 34). You’ll want your ACT at a 33 or SAT at around 740 on each section to make up for your B’s in junior year and not bad, but not great, EC’s.

Georgetown: low reach
UPenn: mid reach
Northwestern: low- mid reach
Yale: high reach
Harvard: high reach
UCLA: depending on what your UC GPA is, either high match or low reach (I say this because they are very holistic, and your EC’s aren’t great)
UCSD: match for sure-- you should get in
Berkley: same as UCLA, but you may have a better shot-- not as holistic
BU: Match
UChicago: mid reach
Dartmouth: I really don’t know about admissions here. I applied just for kicks, and got in. Not sure why, though. So I can’t really help you there!
Duke: mid reach
John Hopkins: I also don’t know much about this school
NYU: match
Princeton: high reach
Stanford: high reach

Thanks all!

@noel597‌ I know, it was pretty bad first semester. I feel pretty confident about getting a 33+ on the actual ACT since the 33 on the practice test was done without any prep. I’ve been cramming this summer and feel good about it. What would you say is a “great” EC that I can still get in?

Georgetown: Reach/Low Reach
UPenn: High reach
Northwestern: Reach
UCLA: Low reach
UCSD: High match
Berkley: Low reach
BU: Match
UChicago: Reach
Duke: Reach
John Hopkins: Reach
NYU: Match
Stanford: High Reach

I would definitely recommend bringing up your critical reading score if the ACT doesn’t work out. ECs are pretty solid. In what way or how intensively did you participate in swimming? Being an athlete on top of your current ECs would look good.

@katievd97‌ I didn’t really do much swimming. I would have been on varsity had I continued this year, but it was just too much.

@APUSHmeoffacliff‌ well, your 800 hours of CS are great, but that doesn’t mean much unless most are in 1-3 activities.
Don’t try to add anything, really. What are your summer plans?

@noel597‌ , what are 1-3 activities?

My summer plans are an internship at a local law office, camp for 2 weeks, spend a week on a native american reservation.

No, I mean that if those 800 hours were done in 1-3 activities and not random volunteering, that’s amazing!

@noel597‌ it actually was in 1-3 activities, it was mainly teaching english, fixing homes on Native American reservations, and the local AYSO league.

Northwestern isn’t a low reach. The average SAT score is in the mid 2200s and OP falls towards the middle of the average ACT. Also, since he is an ORM (No offense) , these will all be high reaches except the public schools.

@AnnieBeats most of my friends looked pretty similar to this OP and got into NW. 33 on the ACT isn’t going to hold him back.

Boston U and NYU are safeties for you. UCSD should be a good match. All the others will be tougher. Raise your SAT and you have a good shot for the tougher ones.
