Recs: 1 from bio teacher i knew since I was a kid (went to school with son), other from English teacher that i had for 2 years in a row in whose class i developed analytical skills
Essays: commonapp on realizing the corruption in the Ambulance corps senior corps and deciding how to lead and how not to lead (sounds cliche but it's not so much...hopefully at least). supplement on meeting my friend from france through an exchange program and continuing our friendship over the years (talks about my travels to france, his travels to US, etc.).

I’d say you have a very good shot. Good SATs, top APs, good ECs with combo community service (ambulance) and sports (soccer). Plus the acceptance rate for guys is higher than for women, 22% vs. 15% (guess a lot more women apply than guys, and they strive for a 50/50 class). Good luck!

ah, thanks! I remember reading something like that in The Student Life, but it also said that male applicants had on average about 44 point-higher SAT scores so it’s not exactly cut and dry.

ok i lied – admissions decision coming back in 1.5 weeks… i’m hella nervous… you can waste your time reading / chancing / commenting on this thread (even though you still probably shouldnt).

i’d be surprised if you didn’t get in, you completely deserve it
since you’re from NY (right?) that should help; i’m assuming you go to a competitive school and adcoms know that.
i’ll be crossing my fingers for the both of us!

i’d say more but i really think you’ll get in- keep me updated when you find out!

Well that would be lovely. I’m working on something special to submit, and if they don’t like it, then I wouldn’t have wanted to go to Pomona, anyway!
