Bowdoin doesn't require the submission of SATs, so don't send yours.

I don't want to burst your bubble but.....You say you were nominated for several programs but don't mention whether you participated. Do not list programs for which you were nominated if you did not participate in them, and don't mention membership in the National Society of High School Scholars--it is totally meaningless. People to People, National Student Leadership Conference and the Junior Statesman programs are not impressive programs as invitations are sent out to thousands of students every year.

You should focus on your music which seems to be an important part of your life.

National Society of High School Scholars- I totally forgot about that- it's sooooooooo illegitimate.

i have always wondered about this
if a school is extremely competitive...wouldnt it be in the students best interest for them to rank. because say the highest GPA is a 3.5 instead of 4.0+. in terms of other student from around the country a 3.5 doesn't look nearly as good. But if you have a 3.48 and are still in the top 10 in your class that is a really good GPA then. so ya...dnt get it

no if a school is really competitive, many students have 4.0's, therefore ranking would be completely unfair and useless. (competitive school means gifted students usually...like hunter hs and stuy in nyc) ranking would come down to marginal differences.

im comfused then i guess about the OP comment about how competitive his school is then. If he has a 3.459 unweighted then it doesn't seem as though his school is that competitive
to be in the top 10% of my class you have to have higher than a 4.1 i think. and like the difference between the top 6%(me) and the top 1% is like .05 GPa points or something
i think my school is pretty competitive....we have lots of high achievers.

my school is also competitive & does not rank. for us, I think it's because there are so many students who are very academically solid that even students who would be in the bottom half are a strong contenders for top 20 schools. That said, i don't think anyone has a perfect 4.0, so saying someone is at the top of the class even though he doesn't have a 4.0 could be helpful, but i think this gets covered with the GC's rec

Interesting thing about chances: its all in the eyes of the beholder.
