I am the first to go to college in my family. My parents knew nothing about college. All I was taught as a kid was to do well in school. I did that. It was not enough. I wish I could have gone back and found different schools of interest. I wish I had someone read over what I had done on my applications. I wish I had had help for my applications. I wish I took my SAT seriously and not cared about it thinking I would get on by grades. I wish my parents had motivated me more in my quest for college. We should have hired a counselor. The one at my school was bunk. We didn’t know it was so competitive.
In retrospect, I would have done the right things knowing what I have learned in rejection and from this board.
Does anyone else feel this way?
