<p>another chances thread!</p>

<p>my stats:</p>

<p>gpa: its not recalculated yet, i think around 3.7-3.8
(i really screwed up freshman and sophomore year
but my junior was all a/a- except for one b+)
i dont think my school ranks, public school.
sat: cr-640, math-800, writing-750= 2190
satII: mathIIc- 790, chem- 760
APs: Calc BC (5), Chem (5), Stat (4), Calc AB (4)</p>

<p>next year's classes:
english IV honors
business org. mgmt.
ap economics
sci. app. of multivariable calc
ap environmental science
ap us. gov't & politics
ap euro history</p>

<p>EC:
lacrosse: freshman year- freshman team, soph- jv but towards
the second half of the season, i was the only one bumped up to
varsity so i guess that counts for something. i quit junior year dont ask.
taekwondo- for 11 years. third degree black belt. family friends with
the master of the place i go to. he was a u.s. national taekwondo coach.
piano- for 8 years. numerous awards/achievements.
amnesty international- officer
key club- member (maybe i should omit this)
national honors society
cjml (central jersey math league) couple times</p>

<p>summer programs: that johns hopkins cty a bunch of times (like 4),
and cty's civic leadership insititute branch that was in baltimore.
columbia summer high school program- currently in it (intro to business/finance/econ)</p>

<p>volunteering- over 50 hours at cty-cli (baltimore) program.
various soup kitchens (trenton, new brunswick area)
feed the children: over 100 hours</p>

<p>i have some college credit as well, if it matters. calc and accounting. both As.</p>

<p>i'm planning on getting recs from my global studies teacher and my ap
chem teacher. i had a really good relationship with my gs teacher and
my chem teacher volunteered to write the rec so i'll take it. im also getting
one from my master (taekwondo). that seems influential.</p>

<p>i'm a korean male. </p>

<p>i'm looking at columbia ED! i'm planning on an econ/finance major.
something like that.</p>

<p>if my aspirations are too high, tell me. anything is appreciated.
and if i'm missing anything additional, tell me about that too.

barrons, kaplan, sparknotes lol. a bit too much.</p>

<p>We have the same SAT score minus the Writing (I got 800 W) - 1440.
Except I got 650CR and 790M, haha.</p>

<p>Yeah, I'm retaking the SAT in October to up my CR... I'm aiming for 750+, which would bring my total to 2340+...</p>

<p>Then I have to retake the Literature SAT II (660!) in November.</p>

<p>well two is the requirement so if you want to take more you can take more, but I think there is only room for two on the application (someone correct me if I'm wrong).</p>

<p>Yeah, 2 SATIIs is the requirement for Columbia.</p>

<p>If you've taken 3, and your third one sucks, will Columbia still look at it and place as much weight on it as they do the 2 higher ones?</p>

<p>seaghost: i dont think so if you dont include it. if you do, then they'll
have to judge you based on it regardless of how high/low it is.</p>

<p>um, does anyone know how my ECs look? or if there is anything more
that i might possibly need to enhance it? thanks.</p>
