You'll get rescinded if you don't tell them

Trust me, they'll know. I took a few classes at a local community college in high school and do too great in them (C and a D). A few years ago when I applied, I left them off my initial transfer application and was accepted to every UC but UCLA. My acceptance was rescinded after they found out. Called my admit officer and she mentioned something about a clearing house that has info of schools you've attended (unless you didn't put your SSN# when you registered). I was pretty ****ed but I ended up going to USC and having a blast. It actually worked out better for me.

The best thing to do in this situation is just be truthful. Call or email your admissions officer and explain the situation to them. It's probably better for you to tell them instead of them finding out on their own and thinking you were trying to be deceptive.

Best

so thanks for the input celesbian!

I believe she’s referring to:

[National Student Clearinghouse: Degree verification & enrollment verification](http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/)

You could get away with it, but you should consider the possible repercussions.

Brad19 is right. I worked in the admissions office at Berkeley spring semester a few years ago. Obviously I wasn’t making any admit decisions but I was friends with a few people who did. By far the #1 reason they used to rescind people was for not listing previous colleges attended. Used to get some frantic phone calls from people whose admit was rescinded but there was nothing I could do.

I’ve got a question. When i filled out my application i didnt list the non-transferable courses that did not apply to my UC gpa or my unit count. Is that going to hurt my admission by any chance. Ive been accepted to uci and ucsd still deciding between the 2. Also i didnt list one retake i only listed the grade that was passing

This reminds me of a thread I’ve read before. Check out what this guy has to say about FERPA Block/Restriction. I don’t really have an opinion either way, as I never lied about anything on my app… but this thread was interesting to read!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/656912-transfer-another-college-not-provide-previous-schools-transcript.html

btw it took me like 20mins to track it down! oy!

wait i took a class while i was in highschool at the community college im attending now… its not uc transferrable… do i still need to tell them about it?

OMG??? r u guy serious? i got accepted to UCB and UCLA… i didnt put my previous college i attend during high shcool, i did very poor and i received an F in statistic…what should i do??? OMG… i dont want to call cux i really want to get in UCLA…

I just updated UCLA w/ the fact that I dropped statistics & had an F in an English 110 course I took in 2000. The course is lined out and I have an A in the class. I actually had like 4 things that changed and I am still approved!

Its best to be proactive instead of reactive. UCLA approved your admission. They want you. Have you retaken the class? Is it lined out?

i got into UCD but I didnt list the transferable courses because when i asked my counselor she said I didnt need to put it… but reading everything on this forum… it makes me scared. What should I do ? I couldnt find the UCD number to call and so that I could tell them my situation. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!! TRIPPING BALLS RIGHT NOW… ps It was 2or 3 remedial courses that I received Cs in…

typically remedial courses are not transferable… I would let them know but if these classes are not transferable then I wouldn’t be worried.

this is not exactly related
but if you’ve already gone to USC, how come you’re appealing to cal’s transfer decision for fall '10?

Question: I’ve been accepted to a UC school already, but back in 2003 I attended a state school for half a semester. I completely did not know how important it was for me to tell them about this when applying. Now that I’m accepted, do you guys think I’ll still get in trouble if I write them an e-mail explaining my situation? The classes I took were an English class that I’ve already retaken and gotten an A in and a philosophy class that I’m pretty sure I have an F in because I left halfway through. I’m kind of freaking out about this.

@minilemon wow, stalk much? Girlfriend is appealing, but she didn’t want to start her own acct.

“I completely did not know how important it was for me to tell them about this when applying”

They ask for you entire academic record on your app. You didn’t know how important it was to be truthful and list it?

It’s just one of those situations where I went to college right out of HS, had no idea what I was doing, left school and worked for awhile, and then went back to C.C. and did really well. That part of my life barely even crossed my mind. Technically I was being deceitful by not reporting it, but I really had no idea the consequences were that grave for not reporting it, which is why I want to do it now before it bites me in the ass (which it might anyway, ughh).

so its better to report?

I took Calc I at a community college when I was in high school. I took it my second semester senior year, and got a C, due to a lot of reason (I was doing track at the time, and had AP tests to study for right around time for my final, mom was getting prepped for surgery). Even though I listed it as “Planned” on my application, I did not send in my grade. For some reason, they didn’t ask for my grade at all. I didn’t get my admission rescinded or anything. (I go to UCSB)

But what I was wondering is, I’m going to be apply for UC-UC transfer next year, and I was wondering how that C will affect my current GPA (because it was taken at a Community College and I’m at a UC now…). Will I just receive credit for it, or will it actually factor into my GPA. I have a relatively high GPA here, 3.8, taking Engineering classes.

@Bulenight yup

I attended a school in DC for about half a semester before beginning at a CCC. I had no transcript and no grades from them. On my application, I left a comment about the situation. Pretty sure that should suffice, as they did accept me with that application. In other words, they definitely know about it!

Thought I’d share, as this thread makes me nervous!
