I was wondering if anybody knew any good art programs for the summer, or any art competitions going on for a high school junior. I've found a couple, but they're for seniors only...Could anybody please share their advice or experience please?

I can't. But I do support you in your endeavors :p

How about the Scholastic Writing and Art Competition...I don't think that's the name, but I know it's sponsered by Scholastic, and they accept almost all medias of art.

that is the name but you can't do it till senior year now (cuz its over now) and your school has to select you.

Try for AP studio art, even if you're school doesn't offer it, if you're self motivated enough, it's pretty easy to complete in a year.

As far as summer programs, almost every school I applied to, and most weren't even art schools, had art programs for high school teens in the summer.

Cooper Union
RISD
MICA
Wash U
Skidmore
CMU
SAIC

Those are all schools I know have summer programs. You can also find a lot of local stuff too, as well as competitions--plus they're easier to win.

The Art Institute of Illinois in Chicago kept sending me a catalog of summer programs and classes for kids and high school students. They're like a thousand dollars

FIT, parsons have great summer programs for h.s. students..check out websites for info.

the united states holocaust memorial museum has an art competition that i won in 11th great. try it- it was a great challenge with great results

there's a huge thread on summer programs in the parent's forum. check there.
