<p>Email notifications for Young Arts winners in the MT categories have started to go out today. Some letters are a bit confusing, giving the winner a choice of 3 venues to go to (Miami, NYC or LA) and saying they have to pay their way but will get $500 for participating. Sounds like this is a regional Young Arts gig not the finalist one in Miami (the Miami option this letter gives is in February not the finalist one in January) but still an honor for 700 out of 10,000.</p>

<p>cellomom51-Other than the fairly regular email and facebook news updates, we have not heard a thing-one way or another. I had read that by the end of Nov. the notifications will go out through email…then snail mail sometime in December. Quite a few kids around here have entered in various categories, and I have not heard of anyone receiving notices yet.</p>

<p>I have heard that finalists were notified about 2 weeks ago. This week people are receiving letters in the mail if they have been selected for merit or honorable mention.</p>
<p>I think LoveMYMTGirl is right…there is a lot of talk on a different forum about the finalists already being notified (some parents called Youngarts to verify). However, merit and honorable mention notices are just now beginning to be sent.</p>

<p>I think they are all out there. Any other MT kids get a weird letter from Columbia University congratulating their child on being “recognized” by the Young Arts program?</p>
<p>Apparently it was just a poor choice of words on Columbia’s part, only thing Young Arts has recognized these kids on was that they paid their fees and submitted their YA applications along with 10,000 other kids. LOL</p>
<p>Yes we got that email! They have aggressively sent my D emails. Thought I might share her good but far from Ivy League SAT scores with them and perhaps they will leave her alone!</p>
<p>D is getting the same email…I did read on another thread that some kids are getting there notifications about merit or honorable mentions…we have received nothing by email or snail mail-so probably not good news for D.</p>

<p>We got that from Columbia University too. It said “congratulations on your recognition from this prestigious organization.” Either it means she’s going to get notice of an honorable mention or it’s just more email to delete…</p>
