i dont know where to post about this… um… anyway…
have you ever heard about this competition??
if so, anyone working for it or had worked??
i dont much care(since a paper will be done around jan/feb), but how does the college(top-ranking engineering school) look at this ?? perhaps its importance or significant compare to all that big name national compeition all CCers talks about??
i dont have any experience on a research, so i do not know much things
how DETAIL does it supposed to be(if you do not know about this particular competition, just for general national research competition)? how much information does it have to contain?? gotta give a clear solution to the problem?? LAYOUT or FORMAT of research papers would be greatly helpful.
any more info. on a research paper would be great.
thanx in advance

bump...................

I've read about it, and submitted some work that I had done on AIDs, the spread of it. I didn't win anything, so I don't think that I'm the person to ask, but I will say that if you want to do it and if you already have some sort of an idea, then go for it. Competitions like this always look good, it shows interest.

Did you have a mentor, aviatrix? I only have a background in honors bio and precal, so I really don't know how feasible it would be to do a project.

can anyone tell me the website? or somewhere with more info? thanks

Is this just purely a book-research project (as in you go through layers and layers of previously done scientific research, data, etc.) or do you actually do hands-on research (e.g. experimentation with virus-infected cells, etc.)?

I did it in my junior year...didn't win anything. I believe it's predominantly book-related, either collecting data yourself (e.g., from a survey) or perusing already-available data (from the CDC or whatever).

IMO, it seems like some of the projects that won are relatively simple (i.e. a lot of them dealt with obesity at the student's school).
