Woah, that’s super cool! I’m boring Born in California and live in California (specifically the Bay Area).

I’m not sure how many students applied, but I think somewhere someone talked about a 10% acceptance rate for YSP? Capped at 2 per school, I think. One of my friends unfortunately got waitlisted for YSP, and he still hasn’t received a reply (I think). :(

As for RSI, I believe the figures are somewhere around 4-5% for acceptance. There were around 1.2-1.4k applications? Not sure on this. No idea about waitlists, sorry!

@zetahydrae where in the Bay Area do you live? I live right next to stanford!

@zetahydrae That’s not boring, that’s actually really cool! Are you full American or are your parents another nationality? By the way, are you a boy or a girl? sorry, getting super personal lol.

Have to say, I’m jealous of all you California-dwellers. I’m from the great state of Minnesota and I’ve never actually been to California! Anyway, I’m late to the party on this one, but here are my stats in case anyone’s interested:
17 y/o junior
SAT (superscore): 2210 (690 M 800 CR 730 W)
SAT II: 710 chemistry, 780 literature
APs: US history, human geo, chemistry, gov, literature and composition, language and composition, biology. Got a 5 on every test except litcomp.

This year and next year I’m taking all my classes at the University of Minnesota through a program called PSEO (which is this really awesome thing the state of Minnesota does where they essentially let qualified high school juniors and seniors take college classes for free). My GPA there is a 4.0 (for now…), and it was a 3.9 at my old school.

Activities:
Ballet (training at a pretty serious level, 16 hrs/week)
Board of PSEO student association - organization that plans events for high schoolers who study at the U of M
Volunteer at science museum

Essays: pretty good I guess? My academic challenge one was about how hard AP Chem was and my climate change one was basically a defense of science and the scientific method against skepticism.

So that’s that. Feel free to ignore my rambly long post! I finally submitted my research interests form (phew) and now there’s nothing left to do but nervously wait for summer! Can’t wait to meet everyone :)

@mimsyborgs Wow you’re really smart! You should look into the UCSD medical scholars program! Really everyone should because you guys are all super smart.

Sorry for being so late to reply, but @JoshWilson15 and @irina57:

It’s alright about being personal, I don’t mind. I’m a 16 y/o girl! Full Cantonese; both parents immigrated here from Hong Kong. I live in Fremont and go to a school where the demographics are 85% Asian, so it’s going to be a bit of a culture shock for me. I’m pretty excited about it though!

That sounds awesome, and I’m sure you’ll be fine! I’m a girl too btw.

@irina57 Aw thanks! :"> Has everyone joined the facebook group yet? Can’t wait for the summer!

no problem! And I haven’t, I deactivated my facebook

I’ve joined the group! @JoshWilson15 - I hope I’m not creepy, but since I recognized your name, I went to take a look at your profile and just have to say that your gold outfit was great LOL.

I’m the girl with the big cartoon eyes pasted over my face - initials are B.H.

@zetahydrae haha it’s great to meet you!
