@AngEverlasting TOTALLY agree with you, Finalist is out of my reach but if I can just Merit I will be ecstatic

my daughter applied for classical voice. we are NYC based and hoping for a phone call this week. all the best to all of you amazing and talented young adults! FINGERS CROSSED for everyone.

I emailed the service about when they would send out the email letters for notifying finalists and they replied with āMorning, Notification letter will be going out by the end of December 2014. Good Luck!ā so it is clearly very helpful.

Good luck to everyone!

my daughters friend ( Miami based) was notified that she was a theater finalist last year on Nov. 3rd. thatās all we really know. sigh.

@OverInfinity I emailed, too! I asked when exactly the finalists if the finalists were being notified this week, and the programs department replied that all award-winning applicants (presumably, including honorable mentions and merit winners) would be notified in early December. Not sure if this applies to just finalists, given the way the email was written suggested all winners in general would be notified in a short period of time.

Er, for some reason I get the vibe that theyāre not exactly going the same route as last yearāat least in terms of how early winners are notified (Iām probably wrong, but Iām just basing this off what I was emailed too!) Hmmm.

I remember emailing them last year about when finalists were gonna be notified and they said pretty much the same thing as they did to you guys. Maybe theyāre not allowed to say or just donāt want to say. Idk itās a little weird

My daughterās friend was a finalist and she was notified by phone on November 3 last year. My daughter was an honorable mention winner and she was notified by mail sometime in late November. I believe they call the finalists and get them on board so they can begin the process of making arrangements to get them to Miami in early January. And they are not gonna tell you when that will happen because they donāt want thousands of kids on pins and needles waiting for a phone call and seriously, twitter does that for them. Also, they may still be reviewing applications so who knows really. But when all is said and done everyone will be notified by whenever time they say. In other words, ādonāt call us, weāll call you.ā Be patient you guys. You are talented and it takes some time to review all of your magnificent work. =D>

I looked around twitter and saw that one of the judges posted that she was working on the adjudication process with music still two days ago, so I do believe that they will be notifying later than last year because they seem to still be in the judging process. Hope they start announcing soon!

By the way, last year, all finalists were notified by the night of November 4th! So thereās still hope for tomorrow. Ahhghgsdlfkjdf my recordings were definitely not good enough to make it to Miami, but hereās hoping.

I am trying so hard to not check this thread over and over to see if anyone got a call, but itās so hard! What really seems to help, though, is entering other competitions and working on those applications/auditions. Itās been making me feel more optimistic. Iāll say it again: GOOD LUCK YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!

Omg me too! Iām constantly checking every second I get

yeah same literally restraining myself from refreshing the page every five minutes!
Oh thatās so cool! what other competitions are you entering and for what?

The anticipation is real! This is my first time applying and I am a senior so itās either all or nothing

I have a question, in the application (at least for visual arts) it asked for us to put the teacher in this field that was the most important to us and their email address/phone number. Just wondering, but do they contact those teachers and ask for recommendations or is it just for confirmation that we actually take art classes?

@WorldExplorer I think itās because if you win anything, thereās a teacher to notify and acknowledge for helping you become the artist you are essentially.

@WorldExplorerā I just put down my art teacher in school, but since this is also my first year applying, so I donāt know either! I didnāt exactly tell my art teacher that I was apply so hopefully they donāt contact her and completely confuse her! I also put down my studio teacher of many years that I took classes with outside of school.

Good luck to all! @sabsabmā I totally agree with you, Iāve been refreshing this every few minutes; itās so distracting!

Also, I think that if you are recognized, your high school gets recognized as well and he/she would be the teacher to contact.

@sabsabm I entered a local competition back in June for students on Long Island and I recently found out that I won that! And I am also entering the NAACP ACT-SO Competition. Anyone in grades 9-12 who is of African-American or Hispanic/Latino descent can enter. The rest are just essay and community service-based ones, haha! I am sure there are tons more though.

One of the judges just tweeted āAlmost finishing my #work in @YoungArts adjudications. Tired and #happy at the same timeāā¦ hopefully that means that adjudication is ending (and not just that sheās done all the work for today). I want to hear back now! This wait is torture 8-X

It is coming down to the wire, guys.
currently ripping my hair out

Iām dying along with yāall. best of luck, and if any of us arenāt recognized we need to continue to pursue that which we love. artists are unrelenting. xo
