Nope. I was looking through the lists of past winners and their home states. Not sure where I found it though, and it was on my kindle at school.

@16elir Here is the link to the winners (finalist, HM, and merit) by state from last year. Hope this helps!

OMG! Only 1 international student… :(

I’m starting to feel that they are going to make most of the calls this weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday.

Hey guys! I was a merit winner last in Cinematic Arts and I applied this year for Photography. I received a package around November 17th last year and the official regional invite email on the 20th The New York program was one of the best (if not the best) film experiences I’ve had so far in terms of personal growth. The five of us in the film workshop still talk on a regular basis, and I go to college and have classes with one of them. Everything that YA says about making lasting connections is honestly true. Best of luck to all you talented folks!

@catlas2014 That sounds amazing. To participate in the regional programs, do you have to currently live in one of the cities that they have regional programs in? Or can you travel to one of them? Thanks. Best of luck to you this year.

For those who have been merit or HM winners before, what was it like to get recognized at that level?

Thanks!

Ugh still jittery about this…

I got a merit award last year and the feeling was pretty indescribable. To be recognized by such a prestigious competition, especially because I thought my art was sub par, was just amazing. I also had the chance to do the regional program in NY but I couldn’t get the money to stay in a hotel unfortunately. But one of my friends went and she said it was a really great experience. You get a medal and a letter of recommendation too

are you sure because i wish i knew arent they still adjudicating though

@VahnGizel Thank you! Was your school recognized too?
(I know they state all this on their website, but I was wondering if anything deviates from what they state)

This was one of the replies from YoungArts to my email:

"Good afternoon,

Adjudications is a longer process this year so the timeline is a little different. Judges are still in the process of judging and all applicants will be notified of their status by mid-December. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Artistic Programs Department"

Hope this helps! (Although I still want to believe that they are notifying us on the coming weekend because I want to know!)

finalist will be called soon, as they need to be able to book travel and accommodation for Jan 3rd. if they are attending the week in Miami. the waiting is so hard!! FINGERS CROSSED!

I am guessing finalists will be notified next week…

I think it should be this weekend. I just need to know, even if i get nothing…

Uhhh, same! I need to know too.

I wonder why it is taking longer this year…

Maybe more people applied this year

@satutson I think it might be because of the different deadlines, too. A girl I follow on Tumblr who was a finalist for last year’s YA in Poetry Writing said that the deadline was on October 10th, compared to this year’s October 17th (plus, that few-day grace period until October 19th).

@britatos I think last year’s deadline was actually October 18.

Yeah.

And I just need to know! At this rate, it’ll drive me crazy. Also, give me bad headaches from stress, which are already happening.

@Ozymandeos Aww, I’m sorry I hope we don’t have to wait much longer…not knowing is actually worse, for me.
