@PumpedUpNics I really want to be a finalist, too!!! (I’m not 18, tho). Part of me has hope, and the other is preparing me for the ultimate rejection.
Still praying for us all, y’all!! [-O< [-O< [-O<

I’m not sure I would check a list… I’d be too afraid of disappointment…
But I guess I’d be forced to check an email from stupid notifications.
Do they send out packets to people that get rejected, or only to winners?
@HalfwayThereUni1 They only send packets to winners. I think they send an email if you’re rejected, though. (I think I got a rejection email last year but I’m not sure?)
I think either last year or the year before I was mad; I got a rejection email, but way, way after the deadline where they said everyone, winners or otherwise, would be notified by.
My daughter was a finalist last year and the list came out before any emails. Good luck! It was a magnificent experience for her.
Congrats to your daughter!!! B-) B-) B-)
If you don’t mind me asking, what category did she submit in?
@shadyconcepts This is reallyyyy late, but thanks!
@HalfwayThereUni1 and @photogeek8 Thanks for posting those writing contests! They were really helpful. If any of you guys know of anymore contests that are still open, please post them!
Also, has anyone won Merit or a Honorable Mention? If so, did you attend one of the regional programs? What was it like?
Also, if you win one of these awards, do you have to pay for your hotel accommodations? I know you have to pay for the flight, but I was wondering if you also had to pay for the hotel room.
I know this kind of a stupid question, but how do you view your application after you’ve submitted it?
@Balletfreak1999 You can’t view the actual application that you filled out after you have submitted it. However, you can see the application requirements by logging in to your Acceptd account. Under the “Applications” section, you should see a tab for the YoungArts application.
@HalfwayThereUni1 Because with the calls, you were constantly on edge waiting to receive or not receive it, and then HM and Merits found out they won when they got the emails weeks later and a packet in the mail. That left non-winners in the dark for almost a month. I assumed I didn’t win but wasn’t sure until I received the rejection letter. Last year, everyone found out at the same time. Both my friend (who didn’t win) and I (received Merit) found out almost at the exact same time. And with the list, it’s a set day, not an entire month of wondering.
@Tricia22 I won Merit last year and attended the YA Miami Regional Programs. I had to pay for the hotel room as well, but food, wi-fi, and transportation are all covered so your only expenses would be the flight and the room, and even then the prize money I received for attending was almost the same amount as the room.
@Tricia22 I was a Merit and an Honorable Mention and went to two different regional programs, one in LA and one in NY. They were both pretty cool! Definitely not as interactive as YoungArts Week for the finalists, but definitely an experience worth checking out. Hopefully I can be a finalist this year
Just checked youngarts twitter. Results will be staggered again, not at the same time D:
@Tricia22 No problem!!
We all know Scholastic though, right?: http://www.artandwriting.org/
@AliceCollegeQs So that means we should wait till December?
Do you have to pay for the plane ticket if you’re a finalist?
:(( Was looking at excerpts from last year’s writing finalists… great way to feel horrible about my submissions. :((
