@FlameAlchemist A lot of us are hoping to be Finalist dude, but even if we don’t get that dream but get Merit or Honorable Mention it’s still amazing, and great to put on a resume!
You’re an amazing writer though dude and I won’t be surprised if you do make it
By the way, I screamed when you said you were a couple of hours away from your region’s city. Unless you mean metaphorical as in a “long long distance,” then alright. But if you mean literally, I’d consider you lucky. I can’t say it metaphorically because I am STATES away from my regional city so I might not even have a chance to get in period. XD
And don’t sweat not being able to submit a lot. After all, less is more. And I doubt you’d need to submit to other categories considering how amazing your stories sound
I tried to apply to Scholastic, but I literally can’t. It’s not near or recognized by school, so it’s literally unavailable. Yikes!
*by my school (Excuse the typo)
@angelbutterfly WHAT!? SERIOUSLY
@angelbutterfly all you need is one teacher to sign your forms. no one else is my school ever does it, but I just type in the name of my school and my teacher and it always work for me.
I hope we can all come back with good news! Whether it be from scholastics or YoungArts! :x
@glamourbiscuit Me too dude!!!
@Lunarlitgend Sorry, by hours away, I meant states away… sorry if that was unclear. Essentially I’m not going to get to attend a regional program. But you’re right that it would be good to put on my resume (if I win, of course, which I’m not very confident on).
@angelbutterfly Do you mean you’re not in the US? If you are, then you can still apply. You just need to get a teacher to sign the forms. I’m pretty sure you can also apply if you’re a homeschool student. Even if you’re school doesn’t really care about it/recognize it, that’s OK. Mine didn’t really care either, but I still entered (got my art teacher to sign my forms). The teacher doesn’t even have to be someone from your discipline (I entered in writing). Also, if you’re worried about not being able to attend regional or national events, that’s OK too. I won at both levels last year, but couldn’t attend the ceremonies (maybe this year–crossing fingers). Point is, you should go ahead and try for it! There’s nothing to lose!
@FlameAlchemist Okay, I thought so
And @angelbutterfly Flame and Dream are right. Your school doesn’t have to be recognized or be aware of Scholastic. The majority of the people who submit in my school usually submit to art. Only one person has submitted to writing as far as I’m concerned. But simply make an account, type in your school and have any art teacher sign it and you’ll be okay.
I know this is super late, but I applied to the photography discipline. If you have any questions of concerns let me know. @cmhvisuals
@thnesko2 Good luck!
I also applied to photography. Can you run me through your process for choosing the 10 pics?
Crap! Im a junior, but I’m graduating a year early. Will this affect my ability to be a president scholar?!
@thnesko2 Nope! Or at least it shouldn’t. YoungArts requirements are based on age which is ages 15-18. Grade doesn’t matter. Literally if you’re a freshman in college but 18 by the time of the results you can still qualify to both apply and be considered as Presidential a scholar. I recommend Emailing them just to make sure. But I’m pretty sure that’s how it is
Ahhh It’s almost November!
I’m so nervous! I applied last year but I didn’t win anything, so I’m hoping that this year I do!
@dancingflower @glamourbiscuit Yeah, it’s getting closer. I mean I’m not as nervous as before because I’ve been waiting for so long and I have so many things on my plate. Of course I’m trying to stay optimistic and I hope you guys make it
@Lunarlitgend Aw, thanks! Yup, optimism is the way to go. Hope you make it too Do you know when they call finalists?
@dancingflower You’re welcome! And thanks LOL
They will probably start calling finalists around November 13th or 14th. Because, again, they usually start calling the week prior to Thanksgiving Break so that makes the most sense. Plus that’s usually when they started calling last year too.
It really is so nerve wracking. Now that October’s over, it’s literally like we’ll find out in a couple weeks. So scary, although I literally expect nothing as my pieces weren’t much to rave about.
