YoungArts 2018-2019

@angelbutterfly It’s pretty exciting! But don’t doubt yourself dude you never know :smiley:

@Lunarlitgend It is super exciting! I can’t wait until 2ish weeks or so! :smiley:

@glamourbiscuit LOL Me too :smiley:

Guys, on the FAQs it says that winners will only be notified by email only, but don’t they call the finalists? Did they suddenly change the rules?

@glamourbiscuit Last I recall, they’re had that on the FAQs list all the time, since last year even and Finalists were called last year. They Email all winners, including Finalists but only Finalsits are called.
The year before last year though, Finalists were never called, nor were the merits and honorable mentions emailed. They had to wait for the list to see if they won. I don’t know why that happened. In all the other YoungArts conversations that never occurred as far as I’m concerned. Finalists were always called and Emailed and Merit/Honorable Mentions as well.
Hopefully, the tradition carries on to this year, but who knows. Maybe it’ll be different.

@Lunarlitgend Thank you so much for clearing this up! :smiley: I was suddenly worried haha!

Good Luck to everybody!!!

@glamourbiscuit You’re welcome dude! :smiley:
And good luck to you too!!! :smiley:

Ahhh Best of luck! May the odds be ever in our favor!!

@cmhvisuals You too :slight_smile:

I’m starting to feel the excitement and the nerves. Wow! Excited for all of us.
And best of luck to you too, @cmhvisuals !

@Zoe528 You too Zoe! I wish you good luck and hope you place :slight_smile:

By the way, guys, just a disclaimer in case you didn’t already know, but YoungArts tends to be really inconsistent with their notifications, or at least that’s what I noticed when looking at past YoungArts forums here on College Confidential. I remember on the YoungArts forum for 2014-2015 and for YoungArts 2016-2017, rather than calling Finalists and Emailing Honorable Mentions and Merits on the 2ndish week of November, they ended up just sending a straight-up list of the winners around November 20th or later with no notifications at all, and then Emailing the regional programs to winners. Other times like for 2017-2018, and 2013-2014 they notified winners around November 14th and so on before sending the list on November 20th. Despite what I may have said, just keep a look out for that because they might not end up Emailing and/or calling. They’ll probably just have us wait it out and see our results with a mere list. I assume it depends on how long the judging process takes—if the jurors are still evaluating works, but I wanted to give you a heads up just in case that ends up happening, and it could. Again, with results, they’re really unpredictable.

Hi everyone! In case you hadn’t seen it jump onto my thread in the music forum as well. Let us know if anyone gets a Finalist call! If they call I would expect those calls to go out all week long next week and possibly into Thanksgiving week. @Lunarlitgend is right, last year Finalists were called all during the week before Thanksgiving and the year before that they just published the winners list with no calls although the winners ALL get an email right after that list is published.

I know how you kids are about checking email LOL. If you’re like my daughter you don’t check frequently so I will suggest that you check it frequently from Thanksgiving week and on. ANd watch the YA INstagram and Twitter accounts for cryptic messages that results may be released soon. If you make the winners list and want to attend a Regional Program it is a lottery to get in and one of the tipping points is a time stamp response to the winner’s email so you really need to send that confirmation in within minutes of receipt to have a crack of getting a spot. My daughter sent her response in within 20 minutes 2 years ago and missed the cut. Last year within 4 minutes and she got into the NY Regional.

Good luck to all you talented kids! Here is the link to my thread on the music page. We will be posting results there as we hear them and would love for anyone on this thread to do the same.

@SpartanDrew Thank you :slight_smile:

By the way everyone, @SpartanDrew updated us. I even checked myself, but on Instagram, YoungArts says that the results will be posted not at Thanksgiving Week but apparently at the end of the month. That sounds very vague if you ask me and it could mean last week of November or last DAY, but yeah it wasn’t very specific but what’s on there is on there—winners won’t know until the end of November. Quite disappointing if you ask me because that only builds up the suspense but I don’t mind waiting longer though. Patience is a virtue after all xD

@Lunarlitgend last year they said they’d notify by Dec 1. They sent the list out in the afternoon of 11/29. Which was the latest they’ve ever notified. And Finalists had already been called during the week before Thanksgiving. I’d say end of the month at the latest. Very possibly the list will go out well before then. Fingers crossed.

@SpartanDrew Ohh okay! That’s nice to know!! I’ll be crossing my fingers too xD

Hey guys! What do you all think one of YoungArt’s recent tweets saying, “Stay tuned.” ?(Regarding the 2019 winners) Does this mean that they’ll be sending out the results within the next week, or do they usually tease this early?

@W0nd3r1ngWr1t3r I’m going to be a realist and say that they’re probably teasing, especially when they just admitted that results won’t be coming out until the end of November. ^^

they usually start teasing by now lol. I really think they will start making phone calls to Finalists next week and also hope that if any of you lucky kids make finalists you’ll jump on here and tell us you got the call! If my daughter is lucky enough to get that call I know she will call me right away and tell me. She is attending a YA program in NYC next week for YA Alumni called “Up Next”. If she hears anything then I’ll let you know but hopefully they will be making calls then.

@SpartanDrew did your daughter win last year?
