YoungArts Question

@kgoodwin18 - CONGRATULATIONS!! Check your e-mail, and also try to call them right now as I’ll bet the callers are working late. D also missed her initial call last year. ;-D

I am so thrilled for all of you – you are in for an awesome ride!!!

And for those who haven’t been called, there are no doubt more calls to be made AND some of the most talented kids D knows weren’t Finalists last year but still went on to get into amazing schools so not to worry.

I called back and I won for my short story! I’M SO EXCITED!!! Thanks for all the warm wishes. This day has been great!

Thanks everyone! I wouldn’t have known about this competition if this board didn’t exist.
Can’t wait to meet you there, k!

Congratulations Typewriter and Kgoodwin18! What an exciting day for you both. Enjoy.

i didn’t get a call today. is there still a chance that i could have won in the writing division? :(

No call here either for S in mt. I don’t know how long it takes to make all the calls or if there is a particular order. I don’t think it is all done in one day or even in a few. Keep your fingers crossed and remember that this is only one contest!

i will keep them crossed! i too am from a middle-of-nowhere state, so i’m hoping that a call still remains in my future ^_^. and yeah, if this doesn’t work out there’s still the scholastic art and writing awards :-P.

i hope that they haven’t finished all of the writing calls, ribalto. i applied too and i haven’t heard anything!

No one here has said anything about music-instrumental, so is it safe to assume calls for that category are still open for another day? This waiting game is so distracting.

I have a friend who got called for piano.

Congratulations to everyone who’s heard so far! Is the call coming from a 305 area code?

It is my impression that they try to talk to the kids rather than the parents, so I suspect they wait until after school hours to call if they are continuing calls today. As I recall, last year they left a message for D (with no info) asking her to call back.

If you aren’t called, remember that YoungArts has only ~10 MT slots, while there are at least 20x than many openings at top theatre programs, so don’t take any single competition (or audition) too seriously.

Has anyone heard anything for voice yet?

I just called to see if they had finished making all the calls, and he said “Im sure we have, and if we haven’t we will finish today.” So I would assume this means they have called the majority of the finalists.

I got my call around 4:53 in the afternoon yesterday (I might have memorized the time) for Short Story as well! I am rarely at a loss for words but the news definitely left me stammering. I just wanted to give a special shout out to typewriter and kgoodwin18! Congratulations, and you’ll be seeing me and my glorious friend Emma (Short Story) there too! So many exclamation points, someone stop me!

@jellyllama - I personally think life should be filled with exclamation points, and if ever there was a time for them this might be it. Congratulations!!! ;-D

congrats to everyone!

is it safe to say that all calls to finalists have been made at this point?

So far I think cc folks have mentioned;

1 - art
4 - writing
2 - MT (counting a FOF of D)
1 - piano

So it sounds like they’ve made at least some of the calls in most disciplines. Betting we’ll hear of more as the day goes on, though they may be folks who got calls yesterday.

Has anyone heard or know of someone who heard for dance or voice? Because I know of no one yet. So I dont think they have called for those 2 strands yet.

On twitter someone said they got a finalist as dance…
