Hi guys! I'm glad to see so many of you applied EA, and now... the wait begins! A quick note on when you'll start to see your documents listed as "received" in your Chicago Account. Basically: we currently have TONS OF MAIL. Tons. I opened mail as part of work on Monday and was astounded at the amount that was there already- I was able to get through one bin in two hours of work, but we're getting ten times that every day rolling in from EA apps. Basically, what happens is that we open everything, sort it, scan it all in to a really cool system that makes both the things you submitted electronically and your mailed-in things all one file, and then update your Chicago account. You are not going to see everything listed in your Chicago account ASAP- I know this is frustrating, but due to the sheer volume of things that are coming in, it just isn't possible. Rest assured that you WILL be notified if something necessary is missing, and given time to get that in if it got lost in the mail. Do not e-mail your admissions counselor to check up on documents that haven't registered in your account, and do not mail in extra copies of things UNLESS you hear from your regional counselor that we're missing something from you. We'll do our best to get everything matched with the Chicago Accounts in as timely a manner as possible, and we will let you know if you are missing something. I know it can be agonizing to not know where your application or portions of your application are, but please please please don't worry about it- it's probably in the pile of mail I'll be opening and sorting for the next few weeks :)

I just got a “missing credential” email, and it says one teacher rec and my SAT scores are missing. I sent my SAT scores a month ago though…and my school sent my teacher rec forms with everything else. It says on my school system that Chicago has already printed my teacher recs…so I’m very confused… Is it possible that Chicago has not yet processed these forms? Or are they sure they are missing something when they send us the email?

thanks

Hi.Grace!I have the same problem.I opened my credential check list, and it says my transcript is missing…but my school sent my transcript and secondary school report altogether in one UPS bag,and the secondory school report is received, which makes it so odd to say my transcripts are missing…
Also, the list says my Teacher Evaluation2 is missing.Does that mean my rec is not received or simply the TE part is seperated from the letter of rec and is missing? The Common App,however, says the two recs are downloaded.I am kind of confused. So I have the same question as does oceanangel~

Thank you!

Grace, thanks for the update and all the work you are doing during this busy period! Is this your first year working in the admissions office and do you or others have a feel for if the load of EA apps is higher than usual?

My D got the “your app is complete” email yesterday but she had never received notification of an account. She waited until Monday Nov 16 as requested on some webpage and then mailed them that she didn’t have one yet. When she got the mail yesterday, she was able to go to the “forgot your password” page and get a password reset, so an account was now there. We did try this in the days after Nov 1 in order to try to get into the interview window, but the account wasn’t setup that week, must have been the week later.

Anyway, good luck for all waiting!

Guys- if anything is missing from your application, go ahead and resend it. If you’re worried about how to resend, or really do think it should be there somewhere, contact your regional counselor via e-mail- many of them are working from home reading applications at the moment, so calling the office to get ahold of them may not work as quickly as e-mail. Remember that all contact info is listed here: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/php/contact/

oceanangel, on your SATS- if your school lists them on your transcript, you can send that in, or we will count it if it is already there- let your regional counselor know if this is the case. Otherwise, you can fax us a copy of your official score report.

Thank you very much, Grace. I have asked my school to resend their copy of my SAT score report (they originally sent it in with the rest of the school file too, but I guess it got lost…). Thanks again!

Oh and I found out I’m not missing my recs…that was a mistake >.< what a relief!

Thank you Grace!!

My school resent my transcripts. I called the Admission Office, the lady said my 2 recs are there…but …I am still not sure if rec and evaluation are the same thing>< paranoid-ish,that is.

Things get lost, it happens. Not your fault and not Chicago’s fault.

Thanks to Grace for being so helpful!

Grace,
My Chicago account says that everything is received and that my application is complete. I am wondering, is there a way I can check if the school has received my arts supplement?
