I've been getting a lot of PM's about this so I'll just post it here for anyone who is interested.

Do you have lower grades and stats and want to go to a top 5 business school? You still can even with Tepper's recent 50% app increase by applying as an Econ student to HSS.
For the next year or two, use this loophole before it's too late for those who are interested.

09/26/05 - As a result of collaborative efforts between the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Tepper School of Business, the Undergraduate Economics Program will be jointly administered by both schools. All students whose primary major is economics will be students of and earn their degrees from both Tepper and HSS.

This development reflects a strong desire that economics majors enjoy the full array of services and support of both schools, said Dennis Epple, Thomas Lord Professor of Economics and economics program head. This important and exciting change is designed to further improve the schools ability to meet the needs of current students majoring in economics, students electing to minor in the discipline and a possible expansion of the program in the future.

In July, The Wall Street Journal reported that colleges and universities awarded 16,141 degrees to economics majors in the 2003 2004 academic year, up nearly 40 percent from five years earlier. The undergraduate economics program staff has been expanded to include Student Services Coordinator Carol Goldburg, PhD.

Among other responsibilities, Goldburg will serve as the primary academic advisor for all economics majors. In addition to Epple, she joins program director Patrick Sileo, associate teaching professor of economics; and Marian Lee, administrative program director.

The Undergraduate Economics and Undergraduate Business Programs will begin to work together to ensure that students are afforded a full range of opportunities and experiences provided by Tepper, including clubs, extracurricular activities and special events.
