Your Chosen Major

Hi,

I am curious but does the major you decided to pick (if you picked one by the time your applying) have any influence on your admission process if you want to apply to a different school, especially a highly competitive school where only like ~3-20% transfer students are admitted?

E.g.:

If 2 identical students applied to a highly selective school, would the one who wants to major in a bizarre, less popular major (or even a STEM Major?) be picked over the student who wants to major in something cliche like economics or business?

Would a student who is still undecided be at a disadvantage?

…bump

I think major specific colleges handle their own applications, like I think the Enigineering college of the University will handle only the applications with engineering majors and another college will handle the business and econ. I had a friend who applied to UCSD for Electrical Engineering and another application for Astronomy. Now he didn’t get into the Electrical Engineering major but he was accepted to the Astronomy major. So it does matter what major you pick, if it is more popular and the most applications, the harder they will choose so they get the best in.
