Your Co-Op or S/D's Experience

Hi,

I am interested in hearing about your (or son's or daughter's) experience living in a co-op. I am not interested in this thread turning into a place to spread rumors, innuendo or the like. Really wanting to hear about actual experiences from those with a co-op experience.

In which co-op did you live?
Which years did you live in a co-op (undergrad, grad, other)?
In which decade did you live in a co-op (70s, 80s, 90s, present)?
Best part of living in a co-op?
Worst part of living in a co-op?
If you could have a do-over, would you live there again?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts about your experience.

eaglemom - A few years ago, there was a conversation in the Parent Forum re: UT Co-op housing. The overwhelming concern expressed then was that it was probably not an ideal housing situation for freshmen adjusting to life away from home because the co-ops tended to be populated by upperclassmen and grad students. I cannot validate this assertion since our d turned down her UT offer in 2006 and we are still UT newbies. But it might be worth searching for that thread.

Thanks. I will hunt around for that thread. We will be in Austin in a couple of weeks and plan to visit some of the alternative housing and talk to the current residents, too.
