"Your decision is pending review"

My gibson status changed from "your application is complete" to "Your decision is pending review We will try to get you a decision in just a few weeks, but you will receive an update on your admission status by Decenber 15th at the latest."

can people post if this has happened to them and if so when did you receive and admissions decision and what was it? It is a confusing message so i just want to get it straight. Thank you

Gibson is notorious for its glitches and weird events. I really wouldn’t think too much of this. And there’s nothing bad or unclear in that message. It’s basically giving you the same information that’s available on the website or through the admissions office. All decisions will be released by Dec. 15th. I really don’t believe there’s anything to stress about. They’re reading your application and will have some sort of decision for you by Dec. 15th. At least that’s what I’m inferring. And I believe the same is true for every applicant who has yet to hear.

So has no one else gotten this message? I would really like to hear if you did when you did and when you got your decision after seeing this on Gibson

I thought we answered this question. It means they are actively considering your application. Sure the message is off kilter by saying “a few weeks” when the deadline for notification is only 9 days away, but that’s because they just don’t change the way the message reads from what it would be if they posted it 2 months ago. I really don’t get why you are so obsessed about this. Just relax, you will have an answer within 9 days. The answer might be that you are deferred to the RD pool, but at least you will know that. Or that you are in. It will be what it will be.

our message is similar, but different…

"Undergraduate Admissions (2013 Fall)

Your application is complete. The Committee on Admission is working to render your decision as quickly as possible. If you have questions regarding your status, please call the Undergraduate Admission Office at 800-873-WAVE (9283)."

pasadenamom - the application was EA or SCEA for sure? Seems odd your message wouldn’t reflect the December 15 date. Or was it EA but in that window between November 15 and November 26? Those they only promise to do ASAP. You might want to double check with admissions that they have the application marked correctly. Can’t hurt.

I am guessing that one message is for applications received before the 11/15 EA deadline and one is for applications that were received between 11/15 and 11/26 revised deadline. Does that make any sense?

Great minds think alike, doingthisagain. There have been cases of students meaning to mark their apps EA but doing RD instead, and probably there are cases where the university accidentally misclassified them, although that seems less likely with electronic apps.

My D applied 10/26 EA and has had (and always had) the same message as Pasadenamom.

No mine was the complete message before … The one you guys have and recently changed to that. I don’t have a question i would just like to hear people’s experience with this message i.e. if anyone has gotten it and if they did then when and when did their decision come in relation

Yes, but I wonder if getmein had his application material submitted between 11/15 and 11/26, which was the extended deadline after Hurricane Sandy. They said those applications would be accepted EA but might take additional time to process and decisions for them COULD be reported after the 12/15 date.

i submitted mine october 27th and it was complete november 8th

Then you will hear within 8 more days, essentially.

i know i know. all i want to see is if other people got this message and if so when and when did they receive a decision in relation.

LOL. My point is no matter what they say, the time frame is so similar it hardly matters. Two more days or 7 more days, not much difference. Oh well, I guess this keeps one occupied while waiting, eh?

Ours said the same thing as Pasadenamom and it lingered for weeks. Finally we got a congratulations. I thought I had the answer on Getmein12 but apparantly my theory was wrong.

mine changed to the same as getmein12 too… im not sure what it means

It just means you will get a decision by December 15. No more, no less.

tiredandanxious keep us posted about if it changes again

I may be getting deferred. I heard Tulane is big on demonstrating interest. I haven’t visited and I didn’t do the optional why Tulane essay. I did e-mail my counselor about not being able to visit a few days ago, just to let him know I was interested, but it might have been too late. I heard they deny people if they think they’re using it as your safety school. I intended for it to be my safety and my application probably shows it, but now I actually want to go… Let me know if you want to know my stats or something
