I have a feeling med school admissions will be even more stressful than this...

Yeah, unfortunately it will be. I remember how nuts my brother got when he was applying and interviewing for med schools.

Yeah, unfortunately it will be. I remember how nuts my brother got when he was applying and interviewing for med schools.

At least Cornell will inform you if you're missing application materials. There are some medical schools that won't bother to do so :-) The health careers adviser often tells the story of a med school applicant who hadn't heard anything from one of his schools...so he called in January only to find out the school never received an important part of his application....

Anyway...my point...since Cornell will contact you if anything is missing is to try and chill out. But I do know this is easier said than done :-)

I wish chilling out was an option, but unfortunately it's not :/
At least if you get accepted to med school you're pretty much set for life if you pass... :P
You still have to do well in Cornell even if you do get accepted, haha
But chill time starts after I get accepted somewhere :)

I just found out that I have a ski team retreat the December 12-14th...don't know how that's going to go with decisions coming out the next day...a stressful bus-ride home to say the least.

Did everybody else get a Cornell bumper sticker for visiting the campus? I thought that was cute...gave me hope for some inexplicable reason.

Oooh, good luck with that. Don't stress too much on the ride!

Yes! I got a sticker too, haha! I was like YES CORNELL KNOWS I EXIST FANTASTIC.
What also gives me inappropriately placed hope is my recent acceptance to UW-Madison, and of course while it is not Cornell, I love the feeling of college acceptances. The next decision I'll hear from is Cornell, though: 33 days.

same feeling (the existing...not the acceptance to a college part, yet)...I see you have a count-down too? I marked every day in my date book and am checking them off one-by-one...people think I'm setting myself up for some severe heart-break if I don't get in, but it's really the only thing that keeps me somewhat grounded right now.

I'm 90 percent sure I'm not going to get in with my SAT score 1340 (CR+M), so... time to start focusing on other schools. I'll be around I guess...

Exactly! It helps me stay sane!

Don't think like that, cornellhopeful! I've only got a 1390 - it doesn't mean all our chances are out the window :). And even if you (or I, or both) don't get in, it doesn't necessarily mean that we suck - we were competing against some serious applicants and it's hard to get an acceptance from Cornell.

Don't say that! I've heard from current students and alumni that Cornell is really focused on the 'fit' the studen has with the campus, and many strange combinations of scores/grades/ECs have gotten in before. I say don't stop beleiving (gotta love Journey!), because anything can happen. I'm up against the salutatorian of my school, and Cornell generally only takes 2/3 students from my school per year. They also know that they're getting the Yale rejects come regular decision time, but you don't see me giving up!

wow...this thread brings back memories..

ahhh 33 days!!

I'm not quite checking off the days before decisions come, but I think about it way too much. But think about it this way: if Cornell rejects/defers you, there are always other schools!
And, congrats bestwhit, on your acceptance to UW-Madison. Was it a rolling decision? I don't know of any schools that release decisions so early. I would feel really good if I knew I were to be accepted SOMEWHERE already.
So if all else fails, you at least have a good school you can go to!
33 days.... and counting.

Does anyone have ALL of their materials received by the admissions office? There's still an X next to School Report but they have my transcript, which is sort of weird because my counselor sent both in the same envelope.

ChandlerBing: Thanks! And yeah! Rolling decision - it makes me a very happy senior. I've gotten into Tulane because of rolling ("priority") already too. It does feel pretty nice, but it'll feel nicer if Cornell accepts me (in 33 days).

kMz: They apparently have everything of mine (although I'm nearly convinced one of my teachers hasn't sent in her rec yet) because my status basically says they have everything and my application was sent to the admissions committee for review.

I will be thinking of my Cornell app pretty much erry day of my life until December 15

If you guys are accepted by Stanford and by Cornell, which one would you guys pick?

I'll tell you guys my choice. I would pick Cornell over Stanford. I went to Stanford once and I wanted to travel 24 miles to my uncle's house after my tour of the university. I asked a Stanford student where the bus stop was. "What bus stop? Take the taxi," he said. I told him it was around 24 miles away. "It would JUST cost you $200 to $300 that's all."

I mean... undoubtedly, Stanford is a great school, but when it comes to diversity and public service (the element I value the most), it is no match for Cornell.

wow, Stanford heh... ahaha interesting story Shifu Yoda

don't think i'm even going to apply to Stanford, or MIT such.. the environment would be so different i think..

Just as yousonofatree said, this thread brings back so much from last year. I was on cc so much the last week before decisions came out. I just looked back at some of the things we did including a word association game that ended up being hundreds (maybe thousands) of posts. I know it's really stressful and honestly, it doesn't get much better until the decisions come out. Just try to relax and occupy yourself with other activities as much as possible. As it got closer to December 19th, I baked a lot of cookies and went on a lot of runs to keep my mind off of it. Do whatever will keep you from getting anxious because there is absolutely nothing you can do before then. Best of luck to everyone!
