Your favorite music?

Hi! I'm creating this thread for the sake of seeing what other CCers are listening to, and for the possibility of discovering new music.

Five Bands I Like: Neutral Milk Hotel, The Beatles, Radiohead, Queen, The Velvet Underground.

Automatic Loveletter, Blonde Redhead, M83, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Florence and the Machine, fun., Grouplove

Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj (I can’t help it), Drake, the rest of Young Money, ■■■■■

Nancy Ajram, Sherien, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Shreya Goshal

As you can see, I listen to a LOT of different kinds of music. But there’s one thing you’ll never catch me listening to: country rock.

You live in NYC? I’m betting you go to Stuy, heh. I like Coldplay a little, but I can’t stand Young Money.

Too…repetitively insipid and crass.

I’m not sure what style I like but currently I’m obsessing over these people:

Lana Del Rey (Born To Die album), Mumford & Sons, Beck, and others but I can’t remember them right now.

No, I don’t go to Stuy, but good guess. :)

Where do you live?

And Young Money isn’t that bad. They don’t only do curse-filled, meaningless rap, you know. This might seem bad at first, but it gets nicer. :slight_smile:

@Niquii77: Soy un perdededooooooor.

Owl City, Blonde Redhead, Lana del Rey, Automatic Loveletter, Regina Spektor, Nevershoutnever, A Fine Frenzy, La Roux, Jaymay, teebs, Relient K, Florence and the Machine, old Maroon 5.

So, a complete mishmash of artists and genres.

@Progressivism I’m a loser baby! So why don’t you kill meeee :D

Erykah Badu, Jay-Z, Common, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Beyonce, Floetry, Marsha Ambrocious, Monica, Alicia Keys, and Mos Def…

My preferred genre should be quite evident, but I primarily listen to Neo- Soul, Conscious Rap, and Contemporary R&B.

No one can kill you, Nyquil. You’re an invincible ninja.

Here are some artists I think are relatively different and somewhat under appreciated.
Rap: Mickey Factz, Logic, Mike Posner, Los (All of these rappers are EXTREMELY intelligent)
Foreign (Portuguese to be exact): Dead Combo

@qtpi Oh, stop it, you! blushes

I wouldn’t necessarily deem Mike Posner as a rapper-- he’s much more Pop. I’ve always been pretty fond of Logic.

Yeah, I was definitely questioning whether or not putting him under that category, but in the mixtape “The Layover” I think he somewhat touches on the realm of rap.

Drake is an awesome rapper, even though his lyrics don’t look like they mean anything unless you look real hard.

I love Marvin’s Room, the Drake Version. It makes me so mad when Pandora plays Lil Wayne’s Marvin’s Room

Oh, and I like some of the less popular songs off The Fame album.

Since we’re on to Hip Hop…I liked the Watch the Throne album by Jay Z surprisingly.

And I’m also obsessed with Kimbra :slight_smile: I love Settle Down and Cameo Lover

I’ve been absolutely in love with this for the past few days.
