Your Favorite Specific Product At Aldi's

At my store, the produce is every bit as good as other places and better priced. In contrast, I can barely look at the produce at the closest TJ’s.

@abasket I hope you like the chocolates.

I was there this week picking up cheese. They have a nice Brie, and a really good sharp cheddar. I also got 12 grain bread.

Love the goat cheese too!

Thumbs up for the chocolate covered butter cookies and the Hardwood Smoked Sliced Beef Brisket w/BBQ sauce. That was delicious!

I was trying to purchase the “Pork Burnt Ends” - came recommended in a blog I follow and is less fatty than the brisket but they did not have it.

@OHMomof2

I got the goat cheese with herbs this week…it was delicious. Last week they had a goat cheese with cranberries and cinnamon that was terrific!

Hope you can open this…it’s a list of favorites voted upon by Aldi customers.

I have not had good luck with Aldi’s fresh meats (deli meats are good, though). My family could tell something was “off”, even though I didn’t mention the sourcing at all. I gave it three tries, but now I skip their fresh meat department.

Their jelly is a little watery, more like a jam consistency. The fruits and veggies are fine, but the pre-packaged bags are much too big for us, so I tend to shy away from those.

Everything else has been perfectly fine. I get milk, eggs, butter, nuts, baking supplies, and pasta there on a regular basis. Big savings off the regular grocery stores!

@Groundwork2022

We get their ground beef patties…four in a pack. Fresh. They are outstanding. Better than the fresh ground at my local grocery store.

I will say, I tried their steak…and won’t get that again.

Does spiral ham count as fresh meat? I’ve gotten those at Aldi for years…and they also are excellent. One time I was there the Monday after Easter and they had all their spiral hams for $5 off. I bought two.

@thumper1 I didn’t try the ground beef or the ham, just the pork chops and chicken. Maybe I will give the ground beef a try!

Fascinating. Moscato…eeeewwww. I do love the almond milk and the price is like 1/3 of anywhere else around here. I don’t buy much in the way of processed foods so that list is not surprising for those who do. My Aldi checkout stuff is always different from others’ it seems.

@Groundwork2022 I don’t love their fresh meat either, except for the organic grass fed ground beef. That’s about $5 a pound here and I buy it often. I do love the salmon, but never buy the chicken, pork, beef etc., except occasionally the frozen chicken breasts.

I just ate a fudge marshmallow cookie from a pack that my D asked me to buy when we stopped by Aldi last night. It was surprisingly tasty for a packaged cookie.

I don’t get packages of just ground beef…I only get the patties that are already made. They are perfect on the grill.

Their salmon really is terrific, and prices are great.

I drink very little alcohol but if I do, I like Moscato. And I have tried that Winking Owl - very inexpensive!

I brought a box of the Moser Roth European Truffles to work today to share. The box was under $5 and I thought the one I had was quite good.

I’ve just been really enjoying all the new Also Greek yogurt flavors. I like the maple very much, as well as the lemon meringue and orange cream. I’m not saving they are super healthy but they are a nice treat.

There are also apple cinnamon and pumpkin pie Great yogurt.

I got quark, which was available in limited quantities and it’s very nice. I was surprised at how yummy the coffee flavored one is.

Mama Cossi BBQ chicken pizza on flatbread is actually good

^^^ That must be the one I got - I think it was in the refrigerated section? I think it also had jalapenos - I added just a little extra cheese - it was really, really good!

My post above is an autocorrect nightmare. Lol.

Haha - what does was “quark” equal?!

@abasket Quark is actually supposed to be quark. Haha.

I think it’s technically a cheese but it’s like yogurt. The stuff at Aldi has a lighter, slightly more mousse-like consistency than Greek yogurt. Similar high protein content. H grew up eating it in Germany.

I am really having some fun stopping occasionally at Aldi’s!

Today I got a few things that were non-food. A candle for D2 for 3.99. A paperwhite bulb sprouted but not bloomed in a glass vase for my two D’s and my DIL - $2.99 each.

Aldi’s is known for it’s fun advent calendars this time of year. There is a wine one that sells out IMMEDIATELY whenever they have them. I saw a few different types today including a cute dog one with advent biscuits for each day. :slight_smile:

I bought one of the cheese advent calendars for one of D’s birthday gifts - I always get her one thing on her November b-day since she graduated that is holiday related to help her build her holiday decor - but this year she is getting the cheese advent calendar! $14.99 and it’s nice size. Features 6 different varieties of cheese (I think) throughout the calendar.

Advent calendars is a family tradition so this is a fun twist.

I also bought a few more meat items to try today including chuck roast which was a good size.
