Your freshman year of HS experience? Worst memories?

Freshman year was the worst for me. From grades, to friends. What about you? Worst memories?

Senior year was the worst for me. Broke up with a guy, lost several friends, had to take SAT IIs, stressed about college apps…

Junior year was probably my best. Did really well on my AP tests and SATs, had a solo in the band show, actually had friends…

I hope your sophomore year is better!

It wasn’t the worst year possible but it wasn’t good. I didn’t make any friends and I got a B in Algebra 2 both semesters and I didn’t join the clubs I wanted to. I am counting on next year to join clubs and try again. Don’t feel too bad though, if you don’t have friends take the time to focus on your self and improve.

I really liked freshman, aside from the couple of bad friends and no involvement in school (hopefully I will get more involved next year), I found freshman year to be very enjoyable and less stressful than middle school (I hated middle school so much lol).

Freshman year was okay for me. I was basically a loner with 2 other people from my middle school. (my middle school fed heavily into a different high school). The worst part was that I got a B in the first semester in Spanish 1-2 (89.5% ) however involvement with choir and the track team helped. sophomore year was/is way better, more involved and developed some better friendships. To the OP, don’t worry about freshman year ,high school gets better with time I guarantee you’ll enjoy sophomore year more than you did this one.

I liked freshman year, but grades-wise, it’s been the worst so far (89.6 + 89.9 in English T-T, plus a B+ (strange, considering I got a 96 second semester, which was way harder) in Alg 2/Trig).

However, quality-of-life-wise, I suspect that next year (junior year) will be the worst for me. Killer schedule, tons of ECs… Not a good combination (I’m not changing one thing, though). RIP me.

Freshman year was probably my best year academics-wise, but I was a really big social recluse. Funnily enough, I had the best time management skills in freshman year. I’m a bit dissapointed in myself now because my drive just doesn’t seem what it used to be, but I’m a lot more involved in extracurriculars now? My worst memory from freshman year was probably freaking out about a book report: I cut the deadline so close, I was summarizing Anna Karenina in the bathroom during the passing period before the class :)) :))

Just finished freshmen year on Friday. Ended both semesters with all A’s with a 4.7 weighted GPA and ranking 7/409 in my class, some people have insane GPA’s that are higher than mine. I had an 89.7 in biology that’s rounded up to an A but it’s a sad A and it was really close. If I had missed 2 more questions on my final, I would’ve gotten a B.

I felt like I really got to know who I was, what I wanted to do and my plans for the future. Before high school, I was just kinda wandering around, not really sure where I belong and what I want to do. I got involved in variety of clubs that I plan to stick with for the rest of the high school, and even got an officer position in one for next year.

Worst memory was all the homework and project load as well as the extracurriculars. I realized ethically cheating a bit is ok and can help you out somewhat. For our English class, we have a book report every month. You have to read a book, write a formatted essay on it, then give a private 2-3 minute oral report to the teacher. For the first two books, I read them front and back, wrote a really detailed essay on it and gave an outstanding oral report - I got a 67/70 on both of them.

Then I realized the book reports were set up in such a way that you didn’t really have to read the book. So for the rest of the school year, I didn’t read the books at all. I still picked the books up because I had to cite textual evidence from it. So even when I didn’t read the book or understand it at all, I still got a 67/70. I started an essay one morning at 5:00am (it was due 7:30am electronically) and still got a 67/70, never higher, never lower. I don’t know if you would view it as “cheating” per se but if it makes my life easier, I’ll do it.

Walking to school everyday was terrible too. My house is a <5 minute walk from the school. I like to push it to the last minute before I leave. School starts at 7:45am but I typically leave the house at 7:40am and rush myself and it’s just unpleasant.

@geekygeek That’s just a teaching failure. No way could you pull that with our AP English teachers. They know what your capabilities are and make you work up to them. They are excellent teachers.

Grades-wise, freshman year was definitely the worst. Socially wasn’t too great either, because I was in a friend group where there was drama 24/7. My worst memory was probably failing a test for the first (and only) time in my life.

The only good part was probably the fact that I pretty much peaked in terms of my math ability in freshman year (I stopped caring as much about math contests) afterward.

I loved my freshman year. I had straight A’s, did Lacrosse, had the most amazing friends, played piano, in the orchestra, and learned clarinet. This year I switched schools, and it doesn’t have a lacrosse team (really sucks) no music program, grade-deflating teachers, and kids that don’t want to meet anyone new or make new friends… Bleh. Freshman year will probably be my favorite year out of all 4 because of the circumstances of my new school now. :frowning:
