Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

hmm, I don’t have the vases, just an email that they would be shipped. I’m not a happy camper…but trying to be patient. I went to The Vase Store and logged in to my account, it shows the vases as shipped (last week). You might try logging into the Vase Store and see what your account says…I’ll post if mine arrive.

I found the experience of signing up for savemore.com and ordering the vases very unsatisfactory. First, I have concerns that by clicking on a link from a previous purchaser I may have compromised my privacy. Second, after “purchasing”, savemore.com kept changing the date on which the voucher would be available. Then, three weeks after selecting my items I received a terse reply to my e-mail inquiry. The Vase Store rep said (I believe) that they have 15 or more business days in which to ship the items but said my vases would be shipped that week. This was mid-September. Still no vases. I have unsubscribed from savemore.com and will certainly never do business with The Vase Store. Even if the offer is free, its reasonable to expect decent customer service, some communication, accurate information, and timely shipping. Lesson learned!

Savemore looks like a site to avoid

I will try to put a stop order & get a refund. SO DISAPPPOINTED! It sounded like something that could be fun. Oh well, I guess I’m wiser later. :(

SOMEONE said they got vases from it that were nice, on CC, so I figured it was legit.

ek, I did google savemore.com before signing up and found mixed reviews. I figured that since the vases would be free I had little to lose.

My great regret is that this “deal” resulted in my posting a comment (above) on this thread in which I used the wrong “its”. Maybe if they ever send me the vases they can also send me an apostrophe so I can correct my error. I hate making a typo that demonstrates one of my pet peeves, the confusion between its and it’s!

Used my 20% off coupon to get a nice beige cordoroy loveseat at Big Lots…$260. Just right. I will be able to pick it up on Wednesday. I like it NOW and don’t want it to last 25 years like my previous living room sofa (see other thread) that I no longer like…but can’t seem to destroy. By only spending this amount…when it goes out of style, I can get another one. Even my husband went along with this thinking…he doesn’t like the old couch either…but wasn’t too eager to see me spend $1000 plus on a new one for our living room where really…no one ever goes…except to read a book or play the piano.

I’m happy. Hope I like it when it arrives!!

The vases were my first save more purchased. I loved the fact that they were totally free but I too am disappointed in the outcome. I still don’t have my vases. My apologies to everyone.

Checked out the newly remodeled local Target. Chobani Greek yogurts were $.10 less than the best sale price in the other local stores. Stocked up. :)

I am in the canning mode and ran out of pint size jars. After looking in target and Central tractor I realized I had to go to Walmart. While heading towards the jars, I saw a lady had a bag of organic humus and manure - just what I’ve been looking for to enrich my compost pile! I went back to the lawn and garden section and there it was marked down to $1 a bag!

I had to replace my small food processor. It died last week, after being used for about 20 years (got it to make baby food when my kids were little). JC Penny had the one I was looking for on sale today. By using the code BESTCROP, I got an additional 20% off plus free shipping.

^Amazon is selling it for $99.00

I ended up paying $79.00 at JC Penny (plus tax) with free shipping. It’s larger than my previous one so I won’t have to chop things in batches anymore.

Also, if anyone is interested, here’s a code for 50% off everything on the Coldwater Creek website: WZH7542

The vases arrived! Plain manila envelope, they don’t look like much flat, but they are here! I filled one with some water, it’s cute. I think they will be very easy to mail, which is why I wanted them.

I hope everyone receives the vases soon. I don’t know that I pay list price, but for free they are great!

I sure hope I get my vases since it’s too hard to figure out which card I charged them to at this point. ;)

Thanks for reminding me about the vases. I need to check with my D since she ordered them when she returned to school to see if she received them yet.

Just a tip for anybody doing early Christmas shopping. I found some stuff for my daughter today at T.J.Maxx. When I inquired about holiday returns, was told that extended return date applies to sales after Oct. 28th, but the manager offered to initial a gift receipt to allow for the extended return period. Good to know!

REI is now offering memeber a 20% off coupon good for almost all their clothing. I did get 11yo D her Uggs at 20% off there. Plus I had some dividend money on my acct they used. Still way too expensive in my eyes, but was something I promised her last year and made her feel 1000’ tall. Worth every cent. Of course, we still have to go out and get a real pair of winter boots for those wet snowy days we seem to have in the winter around Boston. :)

Mamom, do you mind if I pm you with some winter gear questions? My South Florida born and raised daughter is a freshman at BU. She was home this weekend and we spent a small fortune on outdoor athletic apparel. She is a rower and they are on the Charles at 6:30am. She is already wearing several layers with her NF Denali under her splash jacket and still cold! I bought her a couple pairs of Lululemon tights and was unpleasantly surprised at how expensive they were, even on sale! I read a lot of reviews and the consensus seems to be that they are worth it because they hold up so well. I sure hope they live up to the hype!

My Mom, a New Englander who works outside swears by cuddl duds. they are inexpensive.

fishymom - go ahead am PM me. I will also PM you the name of another cc’er who had a D who did crew on the Charles and probably will be more helpful.

On tip I do have is I am always on the lookout for underarmour and similar gear in Marshalls and TJMax. You probably won’t find it them Fl though any time of the year, but you could try Sierra Tradng Post or other similar places.

[Sierra Trading Post - Great Deals. Great Brands.](http://www.sierratradingpost.com/?afsrc=1&gclid=CNGl_OH_4asCFct-5QodKXOEPw&codes-processed=true)

My kids swear by underarmour and fleece.

fishymom, look for engineered wool and polypropylene baselayer pieces by Helly Hansen - they make a lot of clothing for high energy activities such as skiing and back country hiking and they know cold. NF Denali is lousy at heat retention. Even my fashionista wears HH tights under her jeans in winter! They are expensive, but are still cheaper than one pneumonia-related trip to the ER!

[Helly Hansen Online Store - Outdoor apparel, Sailing apparel, Skiing apparel and Technical Apparel - Helly Hansen Official Online Store](http://shop.hellyhansen.com/US/products/women/baselayer/?f_women=Baselayer&fc_women&partner=6005)

I wear them for cross country skiing and running in winter. I acquired a few pieces on sale at Nordy’s and at TJMaxx.

Second the idea to look for HH at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s, son’s under armour there as well. Bought some there and the cuddle duds I bought at Sam’s club. Very inexpensive and work well, wash well.

Don’t assume each store will have the same items. Bought pants/bottoms at one, drove to the next closest and they would have the jackets/tops.

Remember, Tj Maxx, Marshall’s and Home Goods are all the same company. And for anyone who has a Dillard’s…New year’s Day Sale 50% of all clearance. It ends up better than the 40% since the 50% off is on the second or even third markdown. So it can be 50% off the 75% off. And they do carry some of the higher end workout apparel.
