Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

^^haha–I did the same thing.

My car battery is dead, but I notice I bought it in Costco and there is a sticker on it says " 36 month free exchange and 100 month limited warrenty" I have had it since 5/2008, took it to costco and got $46 back and got a brand new one for $35 more.

Does Costco install the new battery and dispose of the old one? I was going to get a new battery from them, but was told they did not install the new one ( and assume dont take the old one for disposal).

I don’t think costco installs batteries, at least not a third party one’s. Now the battery section has been moved to the tire shop, they may install it, have not asked for it.

They charge $9 extra for the battery core, if you did not bring the old ones in exchange.

IIRC the batteries were in the store in the back with the other automotive stuff. The tires were in a separate entrance in an adjacent part of the building.

[Slim fit stretch-poplin dress shirt | Banana Republic](<a href=“Banana Republic”>Banana Republic)

Stopped into our local Banana Republic store and got a great buy on their slim stretch poplin Men’s shirts. Regular price: $59.50 Today: $25.00
They had about 6 colors to choose from, but I only found 3 in a Size small (white, black, light blue).

jym,

it is no longer in my costco, the batteries are in the Tire Department now. I could not find it first so I asked.

Sounds like all changes start in CA and slowly head east :)

Our Costco shuffled around their stock and shelf space for the holidays. I was looking for some office items and the office supply row was pretty skimpy. One aisle now has more electronics- less supplies. Maybe its temporary-- not sure.

Got a Ralph Lauren long sleeve v-neck pima cotton sweater with tags still attached at Goodwill last week. At check-out I noticed that Goodwill now has gift cards! What a great idea. Encourages people to shop and recycle clothes there while also getting a great bang for your buck out of a gift card.

Our Goodwill is getting a face-lift - they cleared everything out apparently (First all was 75% off , then I heard it was 90% off!) . Maybe it will get more “upscale” as PackMom’s and some of you other CCers!

I like Goodwill but ours doesn’t sort most clothes by size. There are racks and racks of sweaters & blouses by COLOR. So annoying.

A better Thrift store is also nearer to me. Sorted by size. Memo to Goodwill–I can see color for myself at a glance, but not size!

Some of the thrift shops mom & I have been to literally make me itch. Not sure why but it is a strong disincentive to give them a more thorough search. Sometimes around here, Ross is a lot cheaper AND easier to find things than our thrift shops.

Have never understood places that sort purely by color–are we supposed to just pick the color & not be concerned about fit? Very odd to me.

Sure wish our GW and other stores were as well supplied with great finds like those described around here!

Dancing Deer has free shipping today…

Lacoste is having their semi-annual sale.

I was in a thrift shop on Friday, the racks were packed so tightly you couldn’t open up a space to check the size or easily take out an item so you could look at it. And since nothing was arranged by size, it got very frustrating very quickly. We left without buying anything.

Standing rule in our house is that anything from a thrift shop goes immediately into the drier for 30 minutes on high as soon as it comes in the house.

Restaurant dot com is offering $25 coupons for $2 and 3.99 for restaurant dot com gift cards (you need to go on their website if your interested in learning about these deals). Also ebates and mr. rebate are offering a 30% rebate today if you go through either one.

Bath & Body Works has their mini (3oz) items on sale today only 3 for $6. Good Chanukah gifts/stocking stuffers.

Talbots 40% off entire site. I got that on top of a birthday bonus (free shipping and 10% for birthday month as Talbots rewards member) on some already on sale stuff. Brought the price down to what I can manage!

northeastmom, I see the $3.99 deal but can’t seem to find the $2.00 deal.

Talbot’s was mentioned above. I got these flats yesterday for 50% off! I chose a different color, gunmetal–almost a silver. My size was no longer available from the catalog but their personal shopper found them for me at a store in another state! Free shipping, too! Excellent customer service from Talbot’s!
