I NEVER buy ties at GW…unless they are brand new.

Today’s best buy for me…at Big Lots (thanks to the suggestion made here)…four insulated curtain panels…$10 each. 84 inches long and a nice pale beige color. Taking them to AZ for the son’s house. Hoping to save some energy and brighten up the living room (current curtains are dark brown and NOT insulated).

Johnston & Murphy having a great sale. I love their shoes and keep putting things in the shopping cart and then closing the site, telling myself that my D does not need another pair of anything.

Wow, I’ll have to stop by Kohl’s & check out those ties! DH hasn’t had any new ones in a while…he doesn’t like the new bright colored ones they’re showing so I guess he’s turned into his father with nothing but old fashioned ties. :D

Wow, at that price, those ties can be treated as disposable items!!

Not as good as some other posters’, but good enough for me… my find of the day was 50% off Boss dress pants in almost impossible to find size 33R for DH and a cute St John top for me, marked down 60%. Neither was made in China. Yipee!

I’m sad about Syms too. It was my “go to” store for sports jackets and suits for my sons. Frankly, I don’t know of a place that can really match their prices and offer similar quality.

Agreed, nemom. Syms is where we bought the boys their suits and their tuxes. If they got more than one use out of the tux, it paid for itself (cheaper than rental).

Younger son, not usually a shopper, had a field day getting clothes at a Macys sale before he left for college this past fall and has decided he likes a “real” mens department (lots of choices, sizes that fit, etc). As long as he hits the sale rack, thats fine by me.

Sad passage/transition occurred yesterday… took him for his last “fill up the trunk of his car” Costco run yesterday. :(

If anyone likes Keen sandals/shoes, there is a great selection at Sierra Trading Post.
I just ordered the Balboa style for $30.00 on Saturday. They sell for $60 and up on other sites.

To get the great deals at STP, you have to sign up for the DealFlyer email. There is a different sale every day. You get a link sent to your email daily. I’ve found great bargains at STP.

Just got back from Big Lots…had to exchange yesterday’s curtains because ON panel was 62 inches long…needed 84 inch. Of course they didn’t have an additional one…but I found four different ones…that I like even better. They are a light khaki color with thermal backing…$38 for the four panels. BUT it took me over an hour to rummage through their ill organized “display” of curtains to find them.

So I rewarded myself with a trip to Goodwill…which is right next door.

Got a very pretty with tags on (but many years past model) Chicos Jacket…yellow with embroidery on it…Chicos Mariera (I looked online but found nothing…it’s probably many years past)…$14. I’ll wear it for Easter…it’s a perfect yellow. What color pants should I wear with a yellow jacket??

And I got a 1.7 liter Toastmaster Cordless Kettle…in the box…brand new. $8. It’s for my husband. The little freestanding kettle he has now is giving up the ghose. $8 seemed great.

Jackpot at Kohls. Got husband ties…2 for $3.20 (retail on each $32), 1 for $3.40 (retail $34), 1 for $6.40 (retail $32) and one for $7.20 (retail $36). Not bad (thanks for the tip)

Ah but then I also got 9 baby outfits for a baby shower I’m going to…spent a rousing $34 on those.

And two darling Christmas ornaments for my kids …99 cents each…amazingly they had both of their initials left. It was an omen.

The total was $59.98…not bad. I whined a bit because my 30% coupon isn’t good until Friday…so the clerk gave me 15% off. Total…$50.98.

^I ordered 2 tailored fit no iron oxford shirts from the Lands End website. They arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised. They fit son without the bagginess usually associated with oxford shirts. I washed them and they came out of the dryer wrinkle free. They’re still on sale on the website—$19.99. Limited sizes are left. In person, the french blue is awesome.

If you spend $30 or more you should also be able to use this code to get $10 off:
RMN10OFF30 - not sure if you have to go through Retail Me Not to use that code…
(and Ebates has 6% back on Teavana!)

My son is slim and the 14 1/2 french blue would look nice on him…a hard size to fine, he usually gets 15.

NortheastMom I kept the rugs, but after using them a day, my husband said they were ugly and my daughter didn’t like how the water absorbed like a sponge (my son must have drip-dried on it)…so…they will be replaced at some point, maybe someone else’s “Goodwill bargain”. : )
