Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

So I stopped by TJMaxx today to return the iphone case my DH didn’t like (:frowning: ) and had a lovely chat with the salesclerk, Amber. I told her that if TJMaxx had a sudden increase in sales, particularly in baggallinis lately, that probably our wonderful forum here could take credit  She was excited to tell her manager, who may be peeking in here to take a look. Maybe he/she can give us some preview tips on upcoming arrivals too, please? :D

Boy, I’d love to know what TJMaxx will feature next. I bought an expensive chair there recently (expensive brand, but very good price at TJMaxx and then marked down again for a great price) and would have loved another to pair with it. Had I known they were getting in that type of merchandise I would have stopped in earlier. When I asked about upcoming items the clerk said they don’t know what’s coming; stuff just arrives, any day M-F. I’d think management would know what to expect, though.

By the way, I googled my chair to try to find a list price without luck. However I did find a sticker on the bottom with a numeric code. Googling that led to a shipping container inventory. I could see which ship the chair traveled on during its last leg as well as the previous legs – Indonesia to Australia, to Hawaii evidently via air, then via container ship to the mainland, arriving in 2010. So the chair has been sitting around waiting to be discontinued and make its way into TJMaxx’s inventory. I’d love to see how they do their buying.

I took one of my daughters to TJMaxx before going back to school to look at the sunglasses, she found a 9.99 Anne Klein pair she liked but I didn’t see any baggallinis after all the talk about them here. In line though, they had about 20 of them, 3 sizes,2 colors, in the maze of merchandise they display while you’re waiting in line. I never thought they would be there, it’s usually socks or glassware, but maybe someone thought it would be a good “impulse buy”. (I resisted, too many good deals this month) I will have to peek there next time when I think I missed something though.

Thought I’d do a little haggling brag here though. After further shopping with no alternatives that I’d be willing to settle for, I sucked it up and purchased the $875 ring. However, I did not buy it at that price. I went in and was flat honest that it was above my budget and said that I would walk out of the store today with it paid in full with cash if the price came down to somewhere acceptable. They brought it down to $700 plus tax (20% savings), which still came in over budget but the extra expense was worth it. The diamonds are not large but they are high-quality, plus the company has a conflict-free policy so I feel reasonably good about my purchase. It also has a flat edge so it will fit with most wedding bands.

Also, because they were doing a special event this weekend, they threw in a promotion for a free portrait sitting and 8X10 photo. Not too shabby, I think.

Good bargaining, hyperJulie!

I have heard advice to offer cash and ask for a discount, on big-ticket items. Can’t hurt!

Baggalinis–saw some at Marshall’s for $16.99.

TJMaxx had a few new Baggallini’s today. I found a red one–yay for me! I also found a nice Guess brand shirt for one of my sons for $24 and a king size set of DKNY white sheets for $49.00.

I also stopped into TJMaxx today to look for Baggallinis. They had lots of them! Most were in the luggage section and one style in 2 colors was with the handbags.

Editing to show the ones that I bought:

^^I did not buy the one with the design, but that is the style. I bought one of the solid colors.

Does anyone know the difference between Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Marketplace?

Yay Hyperjulie! You got a gorgeous ring for a great price…plus with the added benefit of knowing the diamonds are conflict-free!! Congrats to you and your soon-to-be Hubby :)

Northeatmom - I think the Marketplace is their outlet.

I got a small leather Baggallini at TJ Maxx today, sort of a blush/pale pink. I love the color!

Over30, that is what I thought but I just was not sure. I have never been to a WS outlet.

Hyperjulie, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

So i have to ask…what is it about that Baggalini’s that makes them so desirable- is it all the storage pockets? The fabric? Just curious - I haven’t seen one in person yet…

They are light weight, have a lot of good and useful storage compartments, and are a nice look. I think they are particularly good for travel.

I liked how they lay flat for travel, lots of pockets, nearly as light as a feather, and seem well made. I found them to be a good buy at TJMaxx!

Cross posted with thumper.

^for me, it’s that they are lightweight yet durable, have easy zippers, well placed and sized compartments, and a lighter contrast color lining so it’s easy to find things in the bag. They hold a lot of stuff in a compact way while remaining relatively light in weight.

*cross posted above posts

FWIW, I did not buy the one in the ebag link above. I bought this one:

[baggallini Zipper Bagg in Crinkle Nylon - eBags.com](http://www.ebags.com/product/baggallini/zipper-bagg-crinkle-nylon/113067)

They also had the one that I did not buy in the ebag link above.

My TJ Maxx had several different styles of Baggallinis but all were either black, brown or khaki colored. I was hoping for a brighter color for summer. All were priced from $19.99-$29.99.

Went to Marshall’s today. They had a few Baggallinis ($24.99)too but all were black. Still hoping to find a brighter color at a sale price!

^^ Keep looking. The TJMaxx that I go to had one in red, but only one red bag was on the sales floor. I did not care for it. The others were all light khaki, darker khaki, brown, or black.

Thanks for the congratulations. :)

Went to Kohl’s yesterday with my 30% coupon and found a pair of walking shoes, retail $65, on sale for $44.99, less 30% = $31.49. I really wanted a wide size but Kohls has almost none of them, so I brought the shoes home to try them out a bit longer.

Today I went online and found the exact same shoes on Kohl’s web site for $40.99, free shipping - in wide! So I ordered them and will keep whichever shoe feels better. Final cost $28.69, and only 6% tax instead of 9%.
