A reminder that if you are at kohls and they don’t have something in your size you can go to one of their kiosks and place an order to be shipped directly to you for free! I have done this several times when they haven’t had a size or color I wanted. You can also enter your coupons at the kiosk to get the same deal!

My great buy is really thanks to my brother. He bid on PriceLine for me and got me two nights at a 4.5 star or 3 star hotel (depending on which rating you view) for $44/night, INCLUDING free breakfast, free parking, free newspapers and free shuttle service within 5 miles of the hotel! I cancelled my prior reservations–saved over $150 that we can spend at the nearby outlet mall there! He and his family have stayed in the area and say it’s one of the nicest hotels in the area!

I had to laugh yesterday, I went out with my sister to TJMaxx and there was a “hive” of women around the purses…I’ve never seen anything like it, you could barely get through an aisle…they weren’t giving them away, but they had added more purses and spring-like colors. I think I’ll wait for the next shipment… the only one I loved was on someone else’s arm. : )

I did see some nice clearance items on Eddie Bauer, got free shipping and a percentage off. I bought my daughter a half-zip sweatshirt for 14.99 she loved at Christmas in another color, it’s soft and washes well. She is starting to notice, doing her own laundry and spending her own money many times, how certain brands look alike but you really notice after washing a few times, the difference in how they hold up. She is getting a good “clearance/sale” nose herself now.

This was no “bargain” per se, but DS’s computer literally fell apart (thats another story). He needed one pretty quickly and we had not yet figured out a good graduation present for him, so… bingo. Laptop. So he went on my discovercard website, purchased through a link there, got a Dell at 20% off (with linked coupon) plus an additional 5% off for buying through the website plus an additional 2% off for using the Discovercard yesterday (special St. Patricks day promo). He got one with the new solid state hard drive. And a 2 year insurance policy, since the current coverage is, I believe, for students only.

And for anyone who was wondering, he had to go toe the Chem E lab to get on a working computer to order it :)

And right after he ordered it Discovercard’s fraud dept called me to be sure it was a legit purchase. Good protection there.

Last week I made a SW reservation to visit DS for Mother’s Day. Yesterday I got a Click n Save email with a code to save 25%. So I cancelled the original reservation and remade it using the code and applying the fund from the cancellation. I now have $74 left over to use on a future SW flight.

Marilyn, I did the same thing, but it was for 2 of us to fly out to S2’s graduation so I saved twice as much :)

Speaking of SW and graduations… My daughter sent me an e-mail last night with that special St. Patty’s day special so I looked and (Wow!) with the discount the prices were down $60 from the last time I looked. I told my husband and he said that we really should drive. Ugh. Nothing like a two day car ride compared to a three hour flight.
each way.

Change of heart for my husband - We’re flying to graduation in Nashville! Thanks for the deal Southwest, got the 25% off St. Patty day (weekend
) special. We’re going to use points we’ve been accumulating for a few years on our capital one card.

Ran over here this morning. Got this from a site I visit for groupon.

[AmazonLocal Miami: $10 Amazon.com Gift Card](http://local.amazon.com/miami/B007KCX25Q?tag=groupr08-20)

I bought it through my amazon account. Not much but it will feed my book buying habit.

Thanks for the tip on the $10 Amazon giftcard. I bought on for myself and one under my D’s account. My D has to order some plays this week for a class so these should cover those costs for her.

Thanks for the Amazon tip. I had never heard of Amazon local.

I got a gorgeous…like new Brighton purse…

[BRIGHTON PEBBLED LEATHER CARNATION PINK SHOPPER MULTI POCKET TOTE BAG PURSE %! | eBay](http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRIGHTON-PEBBLED-LEATHER-CARNATION-PINK-SHOPPER-MULTI-POCKET-TOTE-BAG-PURSE-/230761892174?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item35ba7b094e)

for $30…it’s really nice and I love it. The one on ebay has a $30 bid but is noted as being scuffed on the outside and dirty on the inside. Mine looks brand new. It is really nice and is my new spring bag!

I also got a pair of Brighton Avery Mules…$25…they are brand new. I love having slip on shoes especially when I’m flying! These will be perfect as they are brown and black…and I can wear them with slacks or jeans. If they hadn’t been brand spanking new, I would have passed on them.

OH…and I also applied for a “job” volunteering at one of the charity consignment shops near here…I hope they “hire” me… I think I’m an natural for this job.

OH…and got a gorgeous pink JJill turtleneck for $5. All of the winter “stuff” at GW was half price!!

thumper, wow, that is really nice! I have yet to see something this nice re: pocketbooks show up at GW.

Glassware, well that is something different. I just picked up a really nice big crystal vase. I am sure that sold orig. for more than $100. I paid $7.50! I am going to use it rather than having it locked up and not feel guilty about actually putting flowers in it. Afterall, it is intended to be used. If I had paid full price (not that I would), or received it as a gift, it would be in a display cabinet and it would not be used! Now, I can get rid of my freebie vase from one of the flower companies.

I recently piced up two Claiborne pieces of clothing with tags on. One is a short sleeve cotton polo for myself for $4 (it was half price since it was misplaced in the men’s department, lol). The ticket showed orig. retail was $28. The other is a man’s sweater in 100% cotton for 4.99. I don’t know the orig. price on that, but I am going to guess that it was over $40. Oh, and I bought a brand new man’s button down wrinkle resistant shirt for either $2 or 2.50 with tags attached.

When you ladies are browsing the thrift shops do you ever see windows that have been removed from houses? My hobby is glass art (stained glass & mosaic) and I’ve been to a couple of Goodwill stores looking for these windows without a shred of luck. Just wondering if I need to keep searching or if it’s a lost cause. If you are seeing them please let me know. I even tried a Habitat for Humanity Resale store but they only had the new fancy kind of aluminum windows - I want the old-fashioned wooden kind with single pane glass sections. Thanks!

Just an FYI…my Brighton purse came from a consignment shop…not GW. The J.Jill sweater came from GW, however!

thumper, I have seen a sweater with tags (J Jill) in my GW too. I almost bought it, but I decided that it I did not love it. LOL, I showed to someone who was thrilled to buy it!

AllThisIsNewToMe, I unfortunately have not seen this. I do know that they discourage furniture donations at the GW that I go to. I don’t know if this is the reason. BTW, they still do get some furniture donations anyway. I could have decorated a family room and a large office space beautifully with donations that I have seen (ie: leather sofa, and chairs, modern office desk and shelving, etc). All it would take is a large truck and a couple of strong people to move it!

Our GW has some nice furniture. I got a coffee table and end table there for $50 for our finished downstairs. We had been to a bunch of furniture stores looking and the one I found at GW was EXACTLY what I had in mind for a very small fraction of the cost. I love it.

HOWEVER, our GW does NOT accept any building “materials”…no old sinks, windows, doors, etc. None of that. There are some great resale places around here that do have things like that, however…but it’s a trek from Texas!!

Over the weekend drove my old truck into town and picked up a rug for son’s bedroom in his apt. 10x12 all wool Capel rug. Gorgeous. $75 plus gas for the truck.

Craig’s List. She had just had it professional cleaned. She had paid over $4000, was moving, down sizing for retirement, house already sold and needed to be out in 2 days. Had fab Lane farmhouse 7 ft. kitchen table and 6 chairs, scalloped ladderback thatched seats, $200 for all of it. Sigh, no place for it…to die for.

Needed the boys to lug that carpet up to the fourth story. Looks great in his bedroom, matched the ralph lauren linens…so nice for the boy. He has really light cream carpet and I expect at the end of med school it would have been NOT cream colored anymore!

Carpet is nice greys and black to go with the grey herringbone/wool men’s suit-like linens.

Love craig’s list and living in NC for the best furniture finds.

Kat

Kat…sounds beautiful. Craigslist can have some great finds. One of my kids got a Crate and Barrel credenza for $100…a beautiful espresso color…retailed for well over $500…and was in new condition.

katwkittens, what finds!
