FWIW, I did get back ALL the amounts we paid for air & hotels, verified by e-mails (tho not yet creditted to our credit cards). I did complete a pile of paperwork and flurry of e-mails, but am pleased that it went as well as it did. Still have NOT heard back from the travel insurance that MasterCard provided, so am starting to have my doubts about how well that works. Generally the other times I have used their extended warranty and other services, I’ve had a MUCH quicker response. It could also be the timing, with all the claims being submitted due to the volcano in Iceland. Will wait & see how they proceed.

NEmom, you may wish to try filing claims with BOTH insurers if you need to & see how they proceed. It would seem to give you double protection & perhaps their policy limits could be added to better cover your claim.

Today only- Jetblue announced $9 airfares between the bay area and Long Beach. You have to book today…and travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday. There is no mention of it on the main Jetblue page, but if you meet those criteria and seats are left you will see the $9 fare. I just got seats! Travel must be completed by May 19.

Yesterday, bought 2 rooms @ Seattle Sheraton @ $89/night + tax for 4 adults; total $215 on Hotwire. It’s in a better location than the more expensive rooms I had been trying to book & I did try calling the hotel directly to see if they could come anywhere near the Hotwire price before I booked. Very pleased that the entire hotel is non-smoking!

Competitors were asking MUCH more and it’s just 2 blocks from Hertz, where we’re renting our car!

Also have gotten government leisure rates for our hotel rooms (since hubby is a govt worker), which has decreased the tab on them by some $$!

^^^ If hubby is a govt worker, is he military? Do you have USAA? I discovered that if you go to the Hertz (or Avis) websites THROUGH the USAA link, rather than jsut using the websites place to type in that you have USAA (like a coupon code) you will get a MUCH better rate on a car rental!

musicamusica, that is a pretty cool site. It took me a minute to catch on, but no I “get it”.

I picked up cotton turtle neck shirts today (big fan of these for under sweaters/blazers in the winter). They were marked down to 1.99 at Sears from 9.98. I got to the register and they did not ring up because they in the middle of taking them off the selling floor! I asked for the manager and she was able to manually ring them up for me.

For Coldwater Creek shoppers, I just stopped into their store for the first time today (after reading Kathiep’s post). They are currently having a sale of 50% off their jewelry and I really thought that some pieces were so reasonably priced with the current 50% sale. I was told that the sale began today. Great for Mother’s Day gifts!

I purchased this in the store today and it was priced 50% off the price marked here:

Our local Coldwater Creek told me Sunday that they no longer have sales on their clothes, and the only sales are online. Is it this way everywhere? I didn’t check for purses or jewelry.

over30, I did not notice sales on clothing. I did see that they had a special price on a shawl (it was marked with a higher pricetag than the “special price”). I know that prior to this week they had jewelry marked down by 25% because the salesperson accidentally gave me a 25% discount, rather than the 50% discount (which I promptly brought to her attention).

The CC where I got my dress was having a 25% off everything sale. I tried to give the salesperson my printed out coupon that I got as an e-mail but she said it wasn’t necessary. Good shopping NEMom!

If you sign up for the Coldwater Creek emails they occassionally run a 50% off everything on the website sale…which includes the Outlet reduced prices. I’ve bought some great sweaters and jewlery that way.
