I have had Costco’s website opened all day, regularly checking to see if/when they would have toilet paper, paper towels and Clorox wipes back in. While online I would have to pay shipping, it is a small price to pay to avoid the store. We are not out yet, but with staying at home, it won’t be long!
This evening I saw TP not showing out of stock, so tried to put some in my cart, but it said not available to deliver to my zip code. Tried the paper towels, and the same thing happened. Tried several more times, and about an hour later, both were in my cart. I was so excited, I checked out before they were gone, and forgot to check again for the wipes. After I received the confirmation, I continued to try for the wipes, which were showing in stock, but again, not able to deliver to my zip. After a few hours they showed out of stock, so no wipes for me. Just happy with the TP and paper towels so I can take some to my mother.
While I expected to go through TP, I am surprised how much paper towels I am going through. I realize we are cleaning and cooking more, just didn’t know I over used paper towels. We have switch to our cleaning rags for when we use cleaning products, but instead I run my washer more as I don’t want rags sitting around IF they had the virus on them.
^ I have a bunch of the Ikea .69 cent dishtowels. I cut some of them in half and are using them for my daily disinfectant counter wipe offs. If it makes you feel better just put them in a separate laundry “container” and then when you’re doing a white load or whatever throw them in.
Athleta has 30% off (wow!) their site for a couple of days. I don’t NEED anything but wow I don’t think I’ve seen 30% off on everything! No code needed.
I just went to the LensCrafters site, and they are having 30% off on some name brand glasses, plus they have 50% off lenses with glasses purchase.
I really don’t know if that’s a good deal or not, but I need some new prescription sunglasses, so I’m thinking of giving them a call.
@abasket That is what we are doing. I keep a mop bucket in the laundry room and are dropping the rags in there. My husband uses smaller white towels for the gym that I bleach, so the rags go with those after I clean. The problem is, I was out of bleach until Monday and it is a small bottle. Hopefully will will score more bleach this week somewhere! These out of stock items have got to come back in stock, right?
Another good source for puzzles is Ravensburger. I haven’t ordered from them in ages, but I remember their children’s puzzles as having nicely thick and coated pieces. (they have a puzzle with more than 40,000 pieces???)
You really don’t need bleach in the WM, the mechanics of soap and water in the washer is what does the work. Even water temps don’t really matter, but you can use hot wash and dry if it is more soothing. Just throw them in the wash. I have never been a big fan of kitchen paper. I have never killed anyone. This virus is like as not especially viable on surfaces for transmission. What is most important is the mechanical effort of cleaning. I doubt most people really follow the directions for actual disinfection from the product (wetting and time) when they are cleaning. Especially alcohol IMO.
That is a gorgeous puzzle. I have never purchased that brand before. Can anyone speak to the quality, as several of the reviews indicate that many of the pieces are not completely cut apart.
FWIW I have always found Ravensburger puzzles to be of good quality as mentioned by @greenwitch.
@SnLMom this is the first time I’ve purchased Springbok but I’ve seen good reviews elsewhere (websites that compare puzzle brands). I normally buy Ravensburger but unfortunately their website is not taking orders right now. I usually get them from Amazon but they seem to be mostly sold out there also.
I probably won’t get my Springbok puzzles for at least a week so it will be a while before I know whether or not I’d recommend it.
When my husband and daughter were nearly finished with this puzzle https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MWTYGTZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I decided to order another Ravensburger but wanted to find that was meaningful. I ordered one of the Golden Gate Bridge since Dh is from San Francisco. He and my daughter asked what puzzle I bought but I said it was surprise. They both said “I hope it’s London” because Dh travels there frequently for work. Uh oh.
That sent me down a rabbit hole trying to find a London scene because all the good puzzles are sold out! I really wanted at least 1000 pieces but this one was the best I could find, which is how I ended up at the springbok website. https://www.springbok-puzzles.com/searchresults.asp?Search=London&Submit=
Since this one is only 500 pieces, I ended up also getting the other one linked above in my earlier post.
I made fitted masks with a free pattern I downloaded online plus 2 tshirts and 60 feet of grosgrain ribbon I had on hand. They can have filters added if desired, in the pocket they have that I made. Since my kids are doing all the errands, I am unlikely to the using the masks, but who knows; they can use the masks and I gave one to my mom. Since masks are selling for $5 and more apiece, it’s a good thing to have and was just some time (with stay-at-home, lots of time).
HImom. There are SO SO many sites for home made masks, that I’m frozen. I don’t have a lot of supplies at home, so will need to get creative. If allowed, do you mind sharing the website you used (Or PM)? I’m also curious what type of filters are suggested when there is a pocket. Definitely don’t have those at home!
You’re right, there are TONS of info about making masks and I don’t have any elastic, so went with what I did have, grosgrain ribbon. Actually ribbon is sturdier for multiple washings anyway. To test, I ran everything through the hot water wash and dryer last night and it didn’t run. I did use two different colored tshirts so you can tell which side you had against your face and which was the “outside.”
I made the fitted masks with tshirt material. It’s very forgiving and soft so pretty comfortable. Not sure what to use as filter—maybe a piece of the thick, sturdy Viva paper towel. I read on a different site that experts who tested various materials for protection and comfort agreed that 100% Cotton tshirts and pillow cases were best compromise of comfort and protection.
