Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Thanks Jym. I liked my experience with Ruelala, but Gilt fell short of my expectations. The dress I ordered for DD came in a very fancy box but did not look “authentic”. It was also made in Mexico, not Italy, where this particular maker produces his clothes. I did not return the dress because it was shipped to DD. I think someone on CC also questioned the quality of the bag she bought from Gilt.

I’ve bought stuff from Yoox, and so far, so good. The items looked authentic with all of the “calling cards” present, shoes came in a perfect box complete with flannel bags (what are you supposed to do with them?). Returns were fast and easy. I’m waiting to see how Bluefly will process my return.

Thanks for the info about gilt. I guess I’ll stick with rue la la. Just got a delivery of some stuff I ordered-- didnt hapen to pay attention when I ordered to where the stuff was supposedly made, so dont know if there is an issue with the accessories (houseware gifts) I got. Still bummed aboutt he bag I wanted for my ffiend, but the $40 credit is def nice.

Great jym626! I belong to Rue La La, but the only thing I’ve ever purchased is a Christopher Radko ornament…
I’m waiting for my first purchase from iDeeli, haven’t purchased from Gilt. Has anyone used Swirl from Daily Candy?

Thank jym, but the suitcase is on the fedex truck to be delivered to her already today. I’ll know to ask you next time before I order anything as you seem to always find the good coupons!

time to revive this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/63103-bargain-shoppers-discounts-deals-coupons.html?highlight=coupons</a> it has all the tips for coupons and deals on the web!

I had a great experience at Territory Ahead, I needed to exchange a skirt I had ordered online, it was very easy. And the online price was $10 less than in store (which was honored by the store).

If anyone in your family is willing to wear Old Navy jeans, they are currently $19 (ones that are normally 29.50), at least they were in the store today. I did not check online. In addition there is a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase (expires on 7/22/10). It says that you can only use it one time, but I was able to go through checkout twice and it did go through the second time. Additionally, the store that I was in had some jeans that were reduced to $14.99 with an extra 50% off of this price (this is obviously hit or miss).

If you end up getting 3 pairs of jeans for $57 and have a 20% off coupon, the jeans end up costing about 15.20 each (plus tax if it applies in your state).

My “find” today was a North Face man’s waterproof windbreaker regularly $99, marked down to 24.75, BEFORE 20% off coupon. This was the only one on the rack, or I would have bought more than one. Oh, I almost forgot…the store was Macys.

I am looking for a down alternative comforter for D who is moving to Indiana. She will be in an apartment so we don’t have to consider an overheated dorm. Would love to find a good buy.

mom60 I was shopping for a wedding gift and noticed Macys has some down alternative comforters for about half off, free shipping if you spend $125 or more (total, not just the comforter) the code is BACKHOME.

For Coldwater Creek fans, they seem to be offering free shipping and there does not seem to be a minimum purchase. I made a small purchase for under $50 and was able to get the free shipping. There was already a code in the box for free shipping. It was not the code that was in my email and it did not work. I took out that code, and put in WHH3584 (emailed to me today) and it worked for me.

mom60, I was in Marshalls/HomeGoods yesterday and saw down alternative comforters for reasonable prices. I was hunting for a lightweight summer quilt for our bedroom. Found a deal with the king size quilt (bed is Queen but really tall),two pillow shams and two matching accent pillows for $59.99.

Packmom, I found a quilt for our bedroom at Home Goods last summer.

Attention shoppers - Ruelala is running a “Campus Essentials” boutique today which includes reasonably priced fluffy Lacoste towels, bed sheets, bath robes, and much more.

I bought her a comforter from Macys. Thanks for the tip. We are not in the same part of the country so I needed to find something online. I did check our local Ross thinking if I found something cheap enough I would ship it myself. Ross is so hit or miss. They did not have one single comforter in stock, down or down alternative!

Glad to hear you found a comforter Mom60!

D received an email from Victoria’s Secret–7 pairs of panties for $25. We picked up those and 7 tube top/bandeaus from Melissa Bleu (they are only $4 each, I think I went a little overboard on colors). Great for a little extra coverage with some of her tops.

It looks like Staples will have a good deal on backpacks starting tomorrow. They seem to be offering a sort of rebate for the amount full amount of the cost of the backpack in the form of a Saple’s gift card. Check the next week’s flyer if interested, the sale is supposed to begin tomorrow. There are other back to school sales in the flyer as well.

Dorm sheets cotton 220 count 15.99 TwinXL. target.com.

^^I found sheets at this price in a lot of places. I also found that where things get more expensive is if you want to buy extra pillow cases (2 can cost $14-20). I wanted to buy some extra pillow cases. I went to an outlet near my home where one can buy 2 pillowcases for $4 ($2 each). I did that and just matched a couple of solid pillow cases to a patterned sheet set. I don’t know if everyone’s child would go for that, but my son could care less. He doesn’t even know what the sheets or blanket look like.

Marshalls, yesterday: 9 washcloths in a pack for 4.99. 100% cotton and a bit thin, but I could not bring myself to pay $3.50 for a single washcloth.

Lowe’s has draperies on clearance. I found “faux silk” valances for 4.99 and full length, lined panels for 6.50. They were originally 40-something.
