For women, that jacket is on sale for $29.99. I wanted to get it for D but she vetoed it
Oh well, no sense getting what sheâll just return and sheâs hard to fit well anyway.

HImom, really! Thanks for posting, Iâll look at the womenâs one and see.

^^^ Landsâ End has something very similar that Iâve been wearing for years. The first one lasted well over 10 years before the zipper broke, so I bought another one:

[Menâs Classic SquallÂź Jacket from Landsâ End](http://www.landsend.com/pp/ClassicSquallJacket~132235_59.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::ZTU&CM_MERCH=IDX_00001__0000000043&origin=index)

Itâs a great jacket, I wear it all the time. It is a little bit heavier than the LL Bean one.

Plus, Landsâ End is having a â40% off the highest priced item and free shipping over $75â sale, which ends today.

I looked long and hard at the Lands End version, too. What tilted me towards the LLBean was that Lands End has switched theirs to a âvapor barrierâ laminate. Thatâs the GoreTex type laminates that are great for wind and water proofing, but make a jacket loud and crinkly. Itâs one of the things I donât like about wearing the heavy winter parka and 9 out of 10 times I wear a jacket, I just donât need that.

The Bean version is just a treated nylon, so the water repellency will probably wear away over the years, but itâs softer and quieter. I have the parka for driving rain or blizzard conditions. I was just looking for a enough water and wind protection for moderate exposure, like long enough to get to and from the car in the rain. Plus (and this is pretty trivial), I prefered the almost invisible embroidered LLBEAN logo in the same color as the jacket, as opposed to the Lands End logo. Six in one, half dozen in the other. Either version, this jacket would get a lot of wear.

For the Lands End 40% of promo, does the item have to be $75 or more before the discount or after the discount?

^^^ Itâs 40% off the highest priced item in your order, regardless of price; and if your total is over $75 you get free shipping.

Yes, I was surprised that the fabric was so different when I got my new one.

Itâs not noisy enough to bother me though, it only took a day or two before I stopped noticing it. And I like that it is much more waterproof than my old one- I can watch those soccer games in a drizzle and not have to worry about the raincoat or umbrella any more.

I have an LLBean store near me, and I went there and tried on the warm-up jacket before I bought my new Landsâ End one. I liked it a lot, but ultimately preferred the slightly heavier weight of the Landsâ End.

P.S. Landsâ End actually offered me a free new jacket because of the broken zipper on the old one. I didnât take them up on it because I beat the heck out of that jacket for 10+ years, but itâs good to know they stand behind their stuff. LLBean is the same way.

Too funny â I just found out the same thing! I was SO bummed that the Christmas blend deal was only yesterday. Every year I get a bag or 2 to put in Hâs stocking, and I figured this year I was going to get a deal. No such luck.

Does any one know if North Face has tall sizes in jackets for men??? Canât seem to find any!

Can any tell me where to get a good deal on a Northface zip up black fleece jacket? D2 wants one for this winter when she is riding her horse, but these are not cheap!

OMG! I won a charity auction: two limited edition (with provenance) Dali seriographs for $100 each. I just wanted to start the bidding. OMG!

@showmom858, I just got last years model from sportsbasement for $125, best price I found.

[The North Face W Denali Fleece Jkt Spring2010 Womenâs Snow Apparel](http://www.sportsbasement.com/store/AC6W-S10!North/The+North+Face+W+Denali+Fleece+Jkt+Spring2010)

NorthMinnesota, My son is 6â6" and has a North Face jacket . Have you looked on their website? I donât recall him having to have it lenghthened. He has a Barbour (sp?) jacket now that I remember he had to have sent off to make the sleeves longer.

Try Campmor for North Face fleece:

[Campmor Womenâs North Face Fleece](http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/SubCategory___40000000226_200368541?ip_navtype=AdvancedSearch&catFilter=&searchKeywords=200368541&ip_sortBy=&filters=Manufacturer%20Name~The%20North%20Face~The%20North%20Face%20(16)&ip_constrain=&pageSize=24&catType=&searchCategory=browsefilter&manNameFilter=&sizeFilter=&ip_state=&priceFilter=¤tPage=&colorFilter=)

Theyâve got a 1/4 zip 100 weight lightweight fleece for $40. I wear these âfitness fleeceâ weight pullovers from LLBEAN and they are fantastic. Iâve getting a Bean hoodie version for my daughter for X-MASS. Campmor has the North Face hoodie version for $65.

Theyâve also got the heavy 300 weight fleece jacket (Kumbu model) for $80. Thatâs very likely what sheâs looking for if she wants a winter outdoor fleece jacket. They have a hoodie windproof version (WindWall) for $99.

They have the Denali (heavy 300 weight fleece with nylon panels on shoulders and sleeves). $99 for last yearâs model (no black) and $165 for this yearâs in all colors.

sevmomâŠI have. He is 6â5", tall but not full and most of their body measurements he would wear a large but his long arms would need a 3XL! Was hoping we could find a tall/extended size.

Thanks for the replies on the North Face Fleece. D actually wants a lightweight fleece as we are in SoCal and she does not need a heavy one. It needs to be form fitting for riding in her lessons as the trainer does not allow baggy jackets. Does anyone know of any like this that are not North Face, but a similar style? Also D is insisting on black. D will be a womanâs xs.

6â6" son is slim but not as slim as my 6â5" son. Iâll email them and see if they remember what size they got but not sure how quick a reply would be!

showmom, This has been my go-to lightweight fleece for the past several years. I like it because itâs form fitting and works well as a layer:

[Patagonia Womenâs El Cap Jacket](http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/patagonia-womens-el-cap-jacket?p=30232-0-676)

There are lots of nice lightweight fleece jackets around, but most arenât form fitting. Iâm also an XS and this jacket fits me like a glove.

NorthMinnesota, I just heard back from 6â6" son who emailed from work. He had a 2xl North Face , a gift from his aunt but felt it was too big. He wore it and felt it was fine but it was stolen at a party(another story!). I know he has gotten catalogues from Patagonia but not sure if they have tall stuff specifically as I have not looked at their website or catalogues lately. LLBean seems to have stuff for tall men.
