Mine was when I received 2 C's in my Junior year after a near perfect straight A high school career.

It really changed how I felt about life and made me find what makes it worth living. It also kicked my butt back into gear and switch off the lazy Mode.

When my middle school math teacher told me that I was going to go to our local Community College and would never be successful in anything. Similar to madogmgd, it really motivated me to do well in school. She was such a bi*ch.

@Hat.
I’m glad it helped you to stay motivated.
Yeah teachers can be mean sometimes.
But can you blame her? It helped you so maybe it was her plan all along

@Madogmgd - They can! I don’t understand why you would want to be a teacher and then not care about your students. It just dones’t make sense. And I don’t think it was her plan, she was just crazy and enjoyed accusing me of cheating and giving me 50%s on tests and quizzes. She reallyyy hated me. Haha

Yeah i can’t stand high school teachers that don’t care about their students.
I mean, then why the hell are you doing this job lady? because It aint for the PAY that’s for sure!

The day I lost my math textbook in 5th grade. After this, I realized I cannot just mindlessly perform in school and need to excel. I have not lost a textbook or received an overall bad grade since.

Oddly enough, my turning point was 9th grade, when I started reading Ayn Rand’s books. I went through a bizarrely antisocial, radical phase during which I obsessed over my grades but looked down on people who were concerned about college admissions. I actually contemplated dropping out of high school or eventually attending a super small LAC (<20 students per class).

I think being wait-listed by every boarding school I’d applied to in eighth grade made me cynical about college admissions. I’m not really sure when I started caring about college again; probably some time during junior year.
