Your opinion on best college dorm storage facilities?

We need to store our college students stuff for the summer. Your experiences, cost etc. Thank you kindly

I recently got a price of $40 a month for a five foot square space. Seemed kind of high, but my other kids didn’t do this so I don’t know.

Google some Public storage centers in the town. My sons shared theirs with other students to keep costs down.

Find a friend with an apartment / house and dump your stuff there paying the same as the public storage. That’s what we’re doing… DD1 will be moving to an apartment from the dorm and she does not, ehem, travel light (her makeup alone is several cubic feet :)). One of her friends is renting an apartment (single occupant, nice) and we’ll pack up her stuff and move it to the apartment for 2+ months for $100.

Storage does seem steep for $40-50/month for a 5x5 space. Sharing a larger space is the way to go…

^^ Public Storage becomes a lot cheaper if your student finds someone to share it with. Even the smallest units are way more space than a dorm kid needs. My D and her friend split the cost of one for the summer, so it was around $20/month each. FAR cheaper than shipping it all home and back. Sometimes they have online deals, or give you the first month for $1.
