Your plans for summer break?

Hey students! Since summer break is coming up (or some of you may already be in it), I decided to post this thread asking you guys about your plans for this upcoming break. I posted a similar thread back in winter break and I thought this would be a nice way for us to brainstorm and discuss our plans for summer break while staying motivated to work hard during break.

My plans are as follows:
9:00am-10:00am: Wake up and eat breakfast
10:00am-11:00am: Leisure time (probably play League of Legends or Ultra Street Fighter)
11:00am-12:00pm: Study AP Chemistry or Academic Decathlon
12:00pm-12:30pm: Eat lunch
12:30pm-2:00pm: Leisure time
2:00pm-4:00pm: Do summer homework or study
4:00pm-6:00pm: Leisure time
6:00-7:00pm: Eat dinner
7:00-9:00pm: Netflix and leisure time
9:00-10:00pm: Summer reading
10:00-12:30am: Watch streamers on Twitch

Also, some books I plan on reading are Nectar in a Sieve, Mere Christianity, Catch-22, and the Great Gatsby.

What are your plans for summer? You don’t need to post a schedule like mine, you can just list some things you plan on doing. I hope you guys enjoy summer break, and for those of you who aren’t done with school yet (like me), good luck on finals!

At the end of June/beginning of July I’m going to be attending UVA’s Writing Program, so I’m excited about living on campus and making new friends.

After that I’m taking Behind-the-Wheel to officially obtain my Driver’s License.

Mid-July I’m going to be vacationing with my family in Florida, heading to beaches, go to amusement parks, etc.

End of July through August I will be taking SAT Prep classes as well as doing summer assignments, one of which is reading The Crucible for AP Lang.

Then there’s school again, ugh.

Btw, I loved The Great Gatsby; it’s my favorite book I’ve read in English class!

Doing a bunch of research stuff in July/August, then going to the west coast for a science presentation and DC for a music competition! Maybe I’ll actually be productive and write my Common App essay, too.

Senior year, holy crap.

Throughout the entire summer, I have mandatory AP Prep and athletic practice from 8am to 4pm. Ugh, I really don’t have a vacation to be honest :)). However, all of my friends are going to bear this torture with me. I am also prepping for the ACT, and I am planning to take my behind-the-wheel test this July or August.

The bright side is that I get to spend more time with my dad, who is a disabled vet. In addition, I am going to a HOBY conference with my best friends next month. Finally, I am expanding my organization to a few states by August.

I want to read 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Making the Most out of College, and The Brothers Karamazov this summer. I am trying to find a book that is similar to The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. As an aspiring future med student, I LOVE reading it!

@1LuckyBrave I’d recommend you read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens! Most of the advice in it is pretty helpful. Also, I’ve been wanting to read Dostoyevsky for such a long time. Maybe I’ll take up Crime and Punishment over the summer…

In June, I get to relax a week after school ends before everything starts. Then, I’ll be taking a course, Tuesdays and Thursdays for three hours a session, at UC Berkeley, volunteering at my local library and an elementary school science summer camp, ACT/SAT prep (haven’t decided which), playing piano, and doing AP Lit and Bio homework. In August, I’ll be going to India for three weeks. My dad also wants me to start thinking of research ideas and reaching out to professors and researchers and to learn how to drive. I feel so overwhelmed right now just typing all of this!

Wow, the organized. Have nationals the first week after school ends. Then have a research program as soon as I get back. Working and volunteering on the weekends. Somehow need to find time in the middle to study for SAT and some APs.

I’m going to start studying for my Permit test (it’s at the end of June) and I’m taking Honors Precalculus through Johns Hopkins CTYOnline. I’m also going to Miami with my family for my birthday and to the beach with my friends. That’s my June. In July, I’m going to the beach for 4th of July; I’ll still be doing Honors Precalc. I might also be working this summer. I’m going back to the beach in August again, too with some friends for a week.

This is boutta be a busy summer. My schedule prolly will go like this.

5:30AM: Wake up
6:00-8:00: Lacrosse conditioning
9:00-4:00PM: SAT school
5:00-6:30PM: Lacrosse practice
7:00: Make dinner (Gotta start making my own dinner to start prepping for college)
8:00-9:30PM: Free time to read, write, or whatever.
9:45PM: Sleep

Weekends I don’t have SAT school. Weekends will be spent studying, reviewing for my junior year APs, practice driving, some other stuff.

-Summer job hopefully (Publix or Panera)
-Applying for scholarships, starting college essays (applications in august)
-Taking June SAT/ACT
-Piano lessons start up again in July after break for month of June
-Taking Math for College Readiness online to help prep for AP Calc AB in August
-Visiting UCF and FIT in June
-Volunteering for Vacation Bible School at church (and other volunteering if possible)
-wow that’s more than I realized lol and the most important thing… CHILLIN’

.

Cool idea for a thread! Well for the next week (until June 13) I’m spending all my time taking practice ACTs and studying like crazy and not having a life because I really want this to be my third and last time taking the stupid test lol. After that going to Florida for a week to chill with family. End of June and July I’ll be continuing some research and volunteering with this local council. Hopefully I can get my common app and some supplements done too. First week of August I’ll be on the east coast for week long summer camp and after that I’ll mostly be busy with summer reading and getting ready for senior year :open_mouth:

Governor’s School, test prep and summer assignments

School ends next week for me, and the week after that, I have an eight-week internship (7 hours a day + bus times, 5 days a week) at a local university. I will also be participating in the city marching band, prepping for my AP classes + the SAT, reading lots of books (Slaughterhouse 5, Catch-22, American Gods, etc.), and watching lots and lots of TV (I plan to finish Daredevil and Arrow (I’m only halfway through S1), and maybe start a new show if I have time). The week after my internship ends, band camp starts (aka a week of hell), and the week after band camp (which is technically staggered over two weeks) is when school starts.

I’m going to be really busy.

Mid june-july internship
Early august leadership training
August-beginning of school trip to Oregon or seattle
Probably starting college apps
