Hi everyone, I want to prepare for next year's AP Euro exam but I would really appreciate ANY textbook recommendations in order to prepare for this course. The European history class at my school uses "World History: People and Nations" by Mazour. Is this a good textbook to use to prepare for AP Euro?

I would really appreciate any recommendations! Thanks.

The Western Heritage by Kagan

Thanks for the the recommendations. Have you guys received 5's on the AP Euro exam?

I will second "The Western Heritage"

I just took the Euro test and I feel I got at least a 4.

well for the exam you only need a review book such as modern european history, or princeton review... i had the western heritage, but i didn't read a single page from it all year...

DO NOT use a review book at all..............
I studied A History of Western Society by McKay and Buckler
If you studied that book, you will know anything
my various friends slacked off all year and used various prep books such as pr, amsco, etc. but know they got a 2
the questions are not from those prep books .............
so my advice is don't use any prep materials except the actual book
and I am confident I got a 5

Ballin4ever, why do you not recommend prep. books? I also agree that no AP exam should be studied solely with the aid of a prep. book but I do think that they would be helpful as a last-minute review before AP exams.

I'll check all these textbooks out. By the way, does anyone know how good "World History: People and Nations" by Mazour is? It's the book I'll be using in my Euro hist. class next year.

i reccomend the Cliff Notes. its fast, easy, and gets straight to the point. It helped me ace the multiple choice.

Western Civilization by Jackson Spielvogel. at least i think that's the title of the book. it covers everything pretty throughly, and i'm pretty sure i got a 4 or 5 on the exam. also PR is a good book, take the tests in the back.

Civilization in the West by Kishlansky, O'Brien, Geary, beginning after chapter 9 (provides important background until the Renaissance chapter, 11, where the AP technically begins), is everything you need for a 5, if you read it and study the text quite thoroughly. I had a tough teacher who basically had us memorize, but I guess it paid off. I got a 5 last year, very confidently.

I also read through Princeton Review once before the test. Took some practice DBQs, etc.
Basically, work hard with any text, and you should be ok. The text I used was very thorough... the authors are EXTREMELY reputable (Kishlansky teaches British history at Harvard).

And no, the Mazour text is not thorough enough for AP Euro. My 9th grade Honors World History class used it. You really don't want to be studying India and China and Egypt for AP Euro, since it's, well, Euro.

Get Viault. It's cheap and awesome. It doesn't teach you any social history so for that I suggest McKay.

All you need is the western heritage.

I outlined it extensively last year and I got a 5. It was the only actual book I used for review, although I also used the Barron's for practice exams.
