Your SAT mentality

Right now I'm asking myself one question: Can I be perfect? That's what it comes down to for me. I'm settling into a zen-like state of mind in which I can make no mistakes.

How do you guys get into the SAT mentality?

Lol^

Just be one with the SAT. :]

the mentality you should have is simply just being okay. When I took the SAT I knew that all my studying would come down to this but I knew I’d be okay with whatever score I got. I didn’t put pressure on myself to do well even though I wanted to. Sometimes thinking you’re going to completely own the SAT’s is a good strategy but sometimes it can lead to overconfidence.

^ I get hyped like I do before a big game, meaning I wake up early for a brisk run and subtly jump and down to get the blood flowing before the test and during breaks haha

I wear a hoodie, listen to some music, and relax

i pretend it made fun of my mom.

^Rofl!!! Haha.

ChoklitRain, you’re like one question away from perfect. Why don’t you just let it go? There’s not much you can do beyond this point. Yeesh.

"Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity "
~ Louis Pasteur

Yes, but it’s a fruitless goal. It’s not like you’re discovering something new. You’re just putting a disproportionate time into trying to get one more question right, which, of course, falls within the standard error of measurement.

^ You might say that Choklit incurs a certain amount of “experimental error” merely as a result of the “precision” of his tools.

Your brain may be pretty dang accurate, but all minds are finitely precise. Anyone can be fooled by a question or two. It all comes down to luck :)

I had an awful mentality. I had a really catchy song stuck in my head, didn’t eat breakfast, and decided I would not leave any blank. It worked phenomenally well.

…don’t do that.

i got nothing to lose…
i am probably dumb anyways…
everyone else usually gets around the same as me…

and i got a 2230. eh…

When I decided that I didn’t care anymore and that the SAT if ***ing stupid, I did my best.

“This s— is easy!”

Test scores come: 1800
***?!?!?!

Just chillax. Hubris can actually backfire, and self-deprecation won’t help either. Neutral is the way to go. Don’t laugh, don’t smile- heck, don’t even blink.

I hate getting a song stuck in my head during the test. That’s all I can think about…it really gets in the way when I’m trying to think!

I really didn’t think about it much when I took my SAT because I did all my practice tests on Saturday mornings…under timed conditions almost every single week for like 2 months. (went through the Blue Book). So when I got there…I just felt like I was doing that ritual all over again. It was just a thing I did on Saturday mornings. SO glad it’s over though…for now. haha

lmao, I know the feeling!

Alex

Same here. When in doubt stretch your arm and leg muscles. Arms forward, hands back. Legs forward, feet back. I only accidentally kicked the guy in front of me once.

Go for the 100%.
