Your SAT scores

I am applying for Fall 2011 and am an international. Here are the scores I am applying with:

SAT Reasoning:
750M (770), 730CR, 800W - 2280 (2310 Super-score) - my math scores a shame, I have distinctions in international maths competitions

SAT Subject Tests:
800 Math II
800 Physics

So what SAT scores were you accepted with?

You’re plenty fine. I got in to engineering with a 2130 (650W 680R 800M). Assuming your aptitude for math means you’re applying to engineering, you should be good SAT-wise. Now go prove Cornell with something extra special (like your math competitions).

I am applying for economics/business so I guess that makes it somewhat easier for me SAT-wise when compared to someone applying for engineering?

Standards for international students are set higher. You should ask for the stats of accepted international students rather than the whole accepted student body.

jebarpolsky. i am an international student.

a) if you are applying to engineering then you need higher SAT scores, just a fact.

b) if you are applying to engineering then you need to show very high proficiency in maths, either through SATs or competitions or grades followed up with recommendations or counselor letters

c) if you have grades and letters backing your score up then your score can be compensated with these other things

d) your 800 in math2 also reflects this.

e) you should be fine, but if you really stress it, go again and only focus on the math sections, since cornell superscores using a computer if you get 600 or so on the others doesnt matter.

gl hf ;)

Will Cornell really care about a 800 math versus a 770 math? Seriously? That’s like one question he got wrong.

Yeah, I got in with 2340/770M/780CR/790W, the difference of one question doesn’t really make a big impact on admissions, especially not if you have backed it up with a 800 subject test in Math II.

not to mention …

You’ll do fine. :)
