Your Schedule for the first Semester ? Post here

So I failed all the criteria to pass the college writing course, which means I'll have to take it in the first semester.

6 units, Darn, that's a lot of units, and a lot of work too. I'll have to put off some courses that I want to take (Guess I'll sacrifice Physics)

My schedule
Astro 007A 4 units
Colwrit R1A 6 units
French 001 5 units
Math 53 4 units

total 19 units

yours ?

For now I'll be taking:

Chem 120A
Chem 104A
Chem 143
Nuc Engineering 101
Material Science 120

Don't know if I should be taking 3 Chem classes in one semester.
No more lower div for me and I've fulfilled all breadth, writing, foreign language, and a 6 units of allied subjects. :)

ew, 19 units?

I'm taking rhetoric 10, french 1 (what time is your class?), a physics seminar, and hopefully philosophy 25a- Ancient Philosophy. this will be 14 units. I was trying to go for 13 but the french was 5 and not 4 units. C'est la vie. I don't need to take the class (i got A's in three years of high school spanish), but i love languages and french is what i'm concentrating on now.

I want to be a philosophy, rhetoric, perhaps linguistics major/double major/triple major/minor combination, or perhaps who knows!

I second the ew...I have a strategy similar to DRab's in wanting a low unit count for first semester...

As of now I'm taking...

History 39J (Survey) - 4 units
Hist 5 - 4
Physics 10 - 3
PE 2 - .5
Enviro 10 - 4 or Another Breadth or Survey Course

total: 15.5 - which I had hoped would be 13-14 (I'm not worried about the 0.5), but I can't seem to get my schedule to cooperate.

19 units! you courageous man!

a math, a reading/comp, and a foreign language! wow! go go go! :)

math 53
physics 7B
Engineering 77
Psych 2
BioE 24 :)

I took 19 last semester and my second semester. Not so bad. Just need to stay on top of stuff and if it seems a bit difficult - don't be afraid to drop a class.

American Studies 10
English 100
History 121A
something else thats 4 units and not on Tuesdays and Thursdays

16 units total. I can handle it.

hm..are these just the classes you are all planning to take?

i have only been able to sign up for two classes so far...my phase II tele-bears appointment is later this month. did you guys get earlier dates?

<3,

Izzie Bear

hi twitb,

im taking french1 too..but im freaking WAITLISTED at the class seeing as i dont stay in america and couldnt go for calso. by the time i was allowed to sign up this tues all the french 1 classes were full.

have u guys taking french1 ever taken the language? i havent. :)

im going to sign up for french1,rhetoricr1a,math1a,econ1 and ias45. might drop a class if it gets too heavy.

really? that sux. I didn't go to Calso either. My appointment is tommorow.

Math 16B
Environmental Science 50AC
Stats 21
Econ 100A

After attending CalSO, I revised my schedule dramatically. The LS adviser provided some useful information...I was going to retake the R1A req, but the adviser said it would be a waste of time. Students taking the AP English Language or Eng Composition and do well on them tend to be able to write decently and further improvement occurs through practice in other classes.

My schedule is as follows:
Rhetoric 20
Poli Sci 2
EPS C82

When my phase II appointment occurs, I'll register for Philosophy 12A or 25. Or some fun class.

Twitb: 19 units! Impressive. I'm staying within 13-14 units...don't want to be overworked. The advisers recommend not taking more than those during the first semester since most students are adjusting to the new living situation. But some people have an extraordinary ability to adjust quickly and take on a large workload.

You guys are worrying me, is it really that crazy to have 19 units in the first semester?
It's just because of the writing class causing the inflation in units. But it's a requirement for me.
I'll just try my best, since there are people I know take more than that, and I dont want to be behind.

I don't think it's that weird. I mean, it's a lot, but I've heard quite a few people say they regretted taking only 13 units because it was so easy.

Poli Sci 2
History 12
French 3

and either Phil 2, psych 2, or Poli Sci 3. or another language, but I can't choose between arabic, hindi, and spanish.

im doing 21 units. if i can. or it'll ecome 17 if i drop a class in the first few weeks.

History 13A
Asian American Studies R2A
Math 16A
Japanese 1A

Total: 16 units

wow...21 units seems like a crazy amount of units; i know i wouldn't be able to handle that, at least not my first semester. but if you really know that you'll be able to keep up, then by all means go for it. all it means is that you'll have a lighter semester in the future than the rest of us...

21...ick, I wish you the best. I feel lazy in comparison!! :)

“When my phase II appointment occurs, I'll register for Philosophy 12A or 25. Or some fun class.”

Those are fun classes!

“im doing 21 units. if i can. or it'll ecome 17 if I drop a class in the first few weeks.”

I feel sane in comparison . . .

19 is a lot of units. Most students probably never take a semester or quarter with 19 units. If you don’t mind spending so much time on it, then I guess you have my blessing.

What is your goal for taking 19 units? You don’t need to compete. Left behind in what?

like being in a competition
