Your thoughts on my chances?

Oh um, you can be tone deaf and still play the piano fairly well. You only need good ears for stringed instruments. I have a friend who plays the violin, i should know. If you are rythmn deaf, well, then you're screwed.

If any of you c him tell him to get on this board, or email me, at sgfaulkner@wisc.edu, I went to athey creek middle school with him and i can def see him being a slacker, I know he is smart, but he prob just doesn't apply himself, happens to a lot of people. Please have him contact me, I haven't talked to him in 4 years

BTW Ben made it nationals for Math Counts, not exactly an easy thing to do, but hey people chance. Randomperson did you go to athey creek? my name is Steve Faulkner, some people might remeber me from back in the day

(Im done defending Ben now, cuz I don't know what hes like today)

I'll tell Ben that you were here.

I didn't go to Athey Creek (I went to Rosemont Ridge), although I made national mathcounts too (I won state). Lol... so, it doesn't impress me too much.

person who started this thread, you're stats are sick. what's wrong with you? no one should be that perfect. are you trying to make the rest of us imperfect people feel bad? cause i sure do.

haha nvm, ignore me. my anger tantrum must have resulted from jealously. or drugs or something. haha anyway, have a nice day. and have fun at harvard geek school (jk..)

you are a funny kid. first off, you wrote here not to really ask your chances.. you only did it to brag. Yep, you know that those scores are decent, but you act like they are nothing and ask for people to analyze your weakness. Yet, when they do, you get defensive and say there is no comparison to you.

Let me tell you bro, as smart as you are, your arrogance won't get you far in college, because there are others like me, who will be equally smart and will have ten times the fun as you, because they can get over their egos.

If SATs had tested maturity and depth of personality... shoot u wouldn't even be considered by community colleges. That's right kiddos... another typical arrogant nerd.

yea, that was my impression of this kid too. But i didn't want to hurt his feelings. Nerds have a tendency to be ultra sensitive to any criticisms ya know.

Lol. Get Him!

you'll get into pepperdine for sure and probably duke and hopkins... although you're just like every other asian. your GPA and test scores are good, but your ECs are lacking and you fail to really stand out... (i'm not trying to be rude or anything). like you keep listing all these competitions that you go to, but you've never really won anything big past regions. and about your stuff that was published... maybe i'm just being skeptical but it seems to me that a LOT of people can get their stuff "published". i've even heard of companies that will publish your poems in a book as long as you pay them...so unless your stuff was published in national magazine (ex. newsweek), i don't think it'll really help you that much

I'm fine with some constructive criticism, my apologies if I came across as arrogant... but aren't you being the same? :P

It's interesting that you claim to know my motive(s) for posting here... only I would know my motive for posting here, which was to have experienced forum members respond in an honest fashion regarding my chances for admission - I could possibly brag AFTER I've been accepted by schools; that would certainly be a natural response. However, I am no brilliant genius, and I understand that I will merely be "average" at some of these schools I have applied to... I was merely asking for other peoples' opinions on my chances of getting in.

"If SATs had tested maturity and depth of personality... shoot u wouldn't even be considered by community colleges. That's right kiddos... another typical arrogant nerd"

Again, it is interesting to note that you do not know me personally and again leap to conclusions... the test of "maturity and depth of personality" you make reference to is essentially what a interview with the college accomplishes, and I am quite happy to say that I am certainly not shallow or immature. Sure, like any human being I have room for improvement, but it would be helpful to criticize me constructively, not destructively, NoCreativity. If anything, being belligerent, jumping to conclusions, and posting in an accusatory tone is being "immature".

And BTW, I am no "nerd", although I do like computers :P

EDIT:

"yea, that was my impression of this kid too. But i didn't want to hurt his feelings. Nerds have a tendency to be ultra sensitive to any criticisms ya know."

Your consideration for my feelings is appreciated, seth_blue. :)

you're a nerd, period. I once knew this kid who went hysterical every time he was called a nerd. He wore glasses, had a buzz cut, wore vests and ski pants, and had virtually no personality. He stuttered and liked to brag about ping-pong. LOL he brought his ping pong paddle to school one day and no one gave a ****. Now if that's not a nerd, then they don't exist all together. Anyway, my point is, you can deny being a nerd all ya want, but you'll never change who ya are. Hey, there's no shame in being a nerd ya know.
btw you still have a chance at harvard. however, like I said, you should try getting a my turn column published in newsweek. The places where you got yer stuff published wasn't exactly impressive.

Easy there, seth. We are all buddies here. lol

Heh, I don't mind seth_blue calling me a nerd. I'll take it as if he meant it as a badge of honor. ;)

Devil May Cry, I agree, this forum is a generally friendly and helpful place :)

Ariafrost, with all due respect, your responses to the accusations of bragging and being a nerd is certainly was done maturely, and that is commendable.

But they are right, it does seem that you are trying to brag your accomplishments. We are no adcoms , we are just hs students aiming for the best. Your stats tends to be kinda arrogant and it ****es us of as we do not yet have such "perfect" stats. You are definitely an over- achiever , but please dont rub it in.

3.6 is bad now? i'm at a 3.6something now, and if it we're for weighting i'd rank somewhere closer to 80/410 than 24/410

yeah i'm from west linn too.. smart genius guys would be like matt r. and issac c. FASHO MANG!! crazy smart guys who have good personalities.. so don't be bashin too hard xP
haha azn awareness ^^ GOOD CLUB btw yall should join it.
o.O!! and i like how you listed the who's who award.. haha it is def. prestigious - to quote ivyleaguewannabechick

"God, You IDIOT" bubblekid

harvard shouldn't be much of a problem. princeton, i don't know. they've rejected members of the U.S. Math Olympiad team (top 6 math students in the nation) whose other stats looked similar to yours. Frankly, princeton is just a little crazy. Have you ever looked at oxford, cambridge, waterloo, etc.?

who's who is NOT prestigious, it's a company simply trying to make money, my friends with 2.5s have gotten it.. so ya

Hey, this guy sounds just like me except for the fact that I got a C in ap english and got a 3 on the exam. :( poop. But I DO play Violin (6 years) and sit in my city's symphony first violin. :)

I wouldn't apply to all of those school. They're for overachievers like you. :)

Personally, I like to slack off a lot. I can't help being "smart" though.

Oh, I'm applying to all middle ranked schools except for WashU, UPenn, and Duke. Think I got a shot? Prolly not with that big "C" saying DON"T CHOOSE ME... DON"T CHOOSE ME... :)
