Your Transfer Experience

any more transfer experience????

i agree with iluvschool as well.......this is like a bunch of smart kids arguing which is a better method of finding the slope of a tangent

Yes, I'm at main campus. My main problems with PSU are the size and the isolation. It's a great school, it's a beautiful campus, and it really is what you make of it (especially if you like football), but it's really hard for me to concentrate in giant lecture halls. And, it's sometimes hard to deal with the fact that the closest area of sizable population is over three hours away. Also, I'm from PA, and half of my high school came to PSU...it makes it hard sometimes to feel like you're at college or starting in a new place when you see people you've seen all of your life a few times a day. Also, I grew up in a college town, and I kind of wanted a big city school. And PSU is a city, but it's just not for me. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome place, and people LOVE it here, but it just never really fit for me. But, I know a lot of transfers who love it here, and PSU is really great at accepting credits from other schools, they accepted all of mine from GW, even from the GW writing program.

Lol. This is a funny thread...

Back to the original set of questions...? I'm interested to hear about more "transfer experiences".

Chelsea, why do you keep going back and forth between schools? Don't you want to just stay in one place and try to make it work? The ad coms may get tired of this soon...

I would also like to hear some transfer experience stories, particularly Junior transfer stories. I am still on the fence as to whether it makes sense to start at a new school with only two years left. Any thoughts?

1) where did you apply: Yale, Stanford, Dartmouth, Northwestern

2) what school did you wind up going to: Northwestern

3) how did you do/how are you doing so far: loving it. all my credits transferred, i got all the fall classes i wanted, i'm loving the work.

4) how was it making friends/socializing/partying: i'm in a transfer dorm and we're really tight... we all are looking for something better in one way or another, and we have a great time together.

5) do you regret your decision: not in the least, this is 10x different and better than last year.

p.s. i'm a sophomore transfer, but i still highly recommend transferring if you're unhappy--there really are better matches out there.

im transferring from a junior college

Jmbarr: It depends on your major, preparation at your current institution, and potential credits accepted at your next school. I have decided on the school I wish to attend, and all my credits will transfer from a CC, I start off immediately majoring in my language (major of foreign at my next institution requires 10 courses at the 300 level or above), and only have to take 2-3 classes to "catch myself up."

Now if you're an engineering major or so...it might be a little different.

I think this thread can be of use to people today as well.

Why would you dig this up? Half of it is just some tools arguing about berkeley and ucla

My mistake. I only read the first page…reading through the rest (I found this thread on a search) has caused me to agree with you.
